PS3 hasn't been selling like hotcakes in Japan either.

lately, nothing rlly has been. DS has had it's days. Wii has basically neared it's maximu. 360 just sucks in Japan. And PSP has a small temp. late surge

I don't think the Wii can be put in the same catagory as the 360 and ps3. So even if they win this gen which i believe they will, it won't bother Sony and Microsoft too much because they benefit too.

I think Sony and Microsoft see the Wii as a stepping stone for people joining the HD consoles.

Haha, you are delusional, you think Sony and Microsoft are not pissed that they put billions in to R&D developing the console, and nintendo being this small company releasing a cheaper more profitable less powerful console, and its selling lap around thier hardcore gaming machines. Wow, i think you are wrong

Wow, that's what i think and i don't care. But yeh...i got my Wii, then i brought a 360 and i still have both.

And no i don't think Sony are Microsoft are pissed because their doing very well.

I like the Wii but i'm glad Microsoft and Sony are pumping out quality games and not competing with the Wii.

I'm not saying i'm right, but i'm not delusional and i truly believe the Wii to be a great complementory system for some gamers, and the core system for others. Sony and Microsoft have both said the Wii is helping the industry by introducing more people into games which will no doubt lead to more sales for Sony and Microsoft too.

Ugh you made me mad on a video game forum, now that is dumb

M$ and Sony definately aren't doing very, well maybe M$ in comparision, but not Sony compared to what they expected. I would say PS360 is great system for some gamers, and Wii is for others. After all, Wii is targeted for a lot more gamers than PS360. The people Wii introduces to gaming, will not be helping Sony and M$ this gen. Next gen they are competing Nintendo about these gamers money, but they don't magically "switch". They may graduate to other games than Wii Sports/Play/Fit, but the games will be the ones that are on Wii. They get interested about another console when another platform has games they want and current platform isn't getting them anymore. The new platform also has to have a pricepoint, that this previously new audience is willing to pay, so expect Sony trying to support PS2 with Singstar and that kind of games as long as they can sell PS2 or until PS3 reaching a pricepoint that Sony sees fit for their Singstar/Eyetoy/Buzz audience, when they kill PS2 fast. @Faxanadu: That's why Wii's a disruptive product. Without disruption the market doesn't change, at least not in short term. If next generation is about 3 similar consoles, Nintendo is the guaranteed winner, but if the consoles are different from each other, it will be a lot harder to say who wins. NES didn't win from Atari, NES entered the market that Atari had just crashed. Atari lost the market (=consumer confidence) by itself. PSX was the best deal for devs, Sega fucked up its consumers and Nintendo its developers. Who do you turn after that? Sony. And Sony managed to gain enough installbase and momentum to counter N64 at its release.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

What won this generation as much as the motion controls is the $250 price tag. Unless the other companies figure out how to lauch cheper Nintendo will sail to an easy victory next gen.

Final* Word on Game Delays:

The game will not be any better or include more content then planned. Any commnets that say so are just PR hogwash to make you feel better for having to wait.

Delays are due to lack of proper resources, skill, or adequate planning by the developer.

Do be thankful that they have enough respect for you to delay the game and maintain its intended level of quality.

*naznatips is exempt

Ok ,,this is just MY opinion:

I think Nintendo will have a hard time next gen,,,it has to innovate something as good as wiiimote,,,

The thing is that 70% of the userbase of WII(granpa,,,granma,,,girls)will not care for better graphics and hence do not see the reason to upgrade to another console everr again(their first and last console possibly).

so the next nintendo console might have similar problems as the game cube unless nintendo invents some thing fun/usuful again.

also they probobly will loose the motion sensing bonus to both Sony and MS next gen as they all will bring improved versions of motion controllers.

How can people still believe this?    Did a cheaper price tag help the DreamCast or Gamecube against the PS2?  Does a cheaper price tage help the PS2 currently against the Wii?   Did you know the X360 costs less than the Wii in some European countires?

Sometimes, you have to let it go. Try not to argue that point. It will only cause needless anger. But while we are on it, 250 as an entry fee is more expensive than the cheapest last generation system. Keep that in mind please.

Nintendo are in a great position. But Sony and Microsoft have learned that market disruption is just as important as hardware specs. If there are three systems out to disrupt the market, then there is no telling which will win.

@dschumm: No, Wiis 250 pricetag had nothing to do with it, or how do you explain Nintendos most expensive console being at same time the fastest selling? Wii should be the slowest selling Nintendo console in history, due to its price and 360 isn't beating Wii in sales, despite being 50€ cheaper at the moment. PS360 high price at start had more to do with it, than Wiis comparatively high price. And Wii Remote isn't that much of a factor, when compared to the software designed for it. Something that "just exists" isn't enough to justify its existance without the software to back it up. @Spartan: No, the point is, that Nintendo (or in general the gen winner) doesn't need to innovate, if the competition isn't innovating either. If Sony or M$ wants to win next generation, they need to innovate. If they just copy Wii Remote, Nintendo is the winner by default. Just like Snes took the market after NES or PS2 after PSX.

Nintendo always wins. It's never had a "hard time this generation," because it's always extremely profitable, even during Gamecube generation.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.
