From the latest report, they want to make a "Dark" game, which doesnt fit well with DQ's themes.

Dark is an empty word. Even kpop groups release "dark" songs.
We will only know if the themes will fit or not when the game is out

Probably in the same way that FFXVI is depicted compared to previous FF games like FF1-6 which were more closer in theme to DQ.
Also the fact that DQ is owned by three different groups and not like FF which is solely owned by Square Enix - so there could be conflict in decision making.

Well, if DQ 12 is the FF 6 of the franchise it means we are getting the best RPG of the generation so I'm all for it!!
Off topic, how is FF VI on Switch and it compares to other releases? I'm thinking of replaying older FFs after XVI, I have a playtrough of XIII I want to finish, and also want to replay VI and IX. I have IX on Switch, bought some years ago and played for like 5 hours before stopping to play another thing (I think it was Animal Crossing launch)

FFVI on Switch is great - the PS4 version is pretty much the same, only difference is the PS4 ver has trophies while the Switch version has the ability to play it portable.
The Pixel Remaster version (specifically on Switch and PS4) is the best version, even better than the PC version mainly because it includes additional QoL features such as "No encounters" option and 2x/4x EXP and Gil bonuses (so you dont have to grind as much).
Additional QoL features include a map that shows where treasure chests are so you dont have to mindlessly explore around (this only works if you use full screen map, not the mini map) and Auto-battle (a first time feature for FF1-6).
Other than that, different visual design, remixed music and new animations.
The only thing that Pixel remasters lack that previous versions had were the extra bonus dungeon and extra summons which were introduced in FFVI Advance and re-used in FFVI Mobile remake.
Its not a deal breaker but loses points imo for the lack of the extra content (which I had a blast doing when I played the GBA version - currently playing the PC version of the mobile remake right now lol).

Thanks for the detailed response
I don't care for trophies. QoL improvement are welcomed, I don't want to expend time with grinding

The fact that the PS4 and Switch versions have the ability to increase EXP/Gil amount is amazing on its own (and the reason why I bought and played the console versions first before I played them on PC which I had since over a year ago).
I got all 6 games on Switch but I'll get them on Playstation (sometime in the future) since I like collecting trophies (not to the point of obsession obviously lol).
Supposedly the PC versions will get the QoL features for EXP/Gil in the future since there's been SteamDB changes for the Steam version of the game but I'm not waiting lol.
FFXVI completed. Took me roughly 50 hours; with some idle time in there. And what a ride it was. Done all side quests and got all best in slot weapon and gear. But yeah loved it.. from the characters to the story and spectacular, bombastic fights. The vastness of the game, and the fun combat. Its the FF game I didn't know I wanted.
Negs.. little on the easy side and side quests are a bit much. But overall, had such a great time with it and its such a wonderful return for the franchise. 9/10. Its one of those games that comes across every once in a while that nearly hits all the right marks for me - much like Elden Ring did for me, last year.

I just beat the Titan fight, about how long through the story would you say I am? Percentage-wise.
