On the bright side... this makes me think that Sony and FromSoftware may be cooking something. Miyazaki has no control over the Bloodborne IP and yet Sony chose to respect his wishes.

I couldn't visualize a villain Miyazaki though lol. What a twist.

Ooooooof. Jason Schreier is now reporting that Bluepoint pitched a Bloodborne remake. Sony approved it. FromSoft did not.

Why FromSoftware even needs to have a say on this?

I guess this does prove what Yoshida's theory was this time last year during an interview:

“My theory is, because I remember Miyazaki-san really, really loved Bloodborne, what he created. So I think he is interested, but he is so successful and he is so busy, so he cannot do it himself. But he doesn’t want anyone else to touch it. So that’s my theory. And the PlayStation team respects his wish. So that is my guess. I am not revealing any secret information.”

Sony owns like 24% of FromSoftware when Kadokawa is factored in. And they probably don't want to damage their friendship with arguably the most respected figure in modern gaming; the holy father Hidetaka Miyazaki.

this is exactly what I was thinking while reading that.

Yoshida has critical of the administration and rightfully so but he also gave a lot of good intel.

One of the supposedly ex-Bluepoint staff, as its being credited, said of the 2 remakes they pitched, at least 1 was being worked on by another company.

So if it is true, it has 50% of being Bloodborne and so it means FromSoftware is already working on it... but if so, why would Sony ask if Bluepoint could remake Bloodborne if FromSoftware was already doing it?

It's confusing, unless the remake already being worked into was not Bloodborne, which we already know it was 1 of the 2 of them.

If Miyazaki truly wants to be the one to lead development on a Bloodborne remake/remaster, it would be hard to imagine that FromSoft is currently working on it considering Duskbloods is Miyazaki's next game.

I just saw this being passed around that threw quite the monkey wrench

Oh good! That's one thing off the checklist! For how much of a PvP focused extraction shooter experience we were being promised, there was a huge lackluster amount of PvP encounters lol.

The thing is, if FromSoftware said it would not be happy with a Bloodborne remake from Bluepoint, but they also have no plans to do it themselves, that would be scummy. "I don't want you to do it, but I'm not doing it either", sounds really bad.

Sony sure can and should respect Miyazaki, he deserves it, but they closed an excellent studio AND the game is not being worked on?

Unless either Sony has a big exclusive he is working into and really doesn't want to mess with it by making him sad about it, ok, they get a game anyway, and a new game is most likely the better outcome rather than a remake, or I'm inclined to think FromSoftware at least accepted and started working on Bloodborne remake by now, even if it still is far away.

Sony let go of a great studio and remaking Bloodborne was an already approved path to keep them by Sony, if nothing big is coming out from FromSoftware to Sony they are even bigger idiots than I initially thought.

Of course there's already people dooming Marathon because the player count on steam went from 125k to 75k but personally I think the demo was the best decision Sony could take, the demo won't only gather feedback to make the experience better but also will help people realice if they want to buy the game or not and if they need a pre order refund or not.

The priority should be for the Marathon playerbase to actually be happy with the game they are getting at release so they stay and buy more stuff inside the game. With an actual playerbase the game can be worked so it can naturally attract more people over time. Of course a game with hundreds of thousands of players is the objective of any service but a game with a price doesn't depend exclusively of it.

The Marathon's miracle won't be to be the next Helldivers 2, the miracle will be to not be Concord lol. The preorders went up on both steam an PS5 after the first day of the demo so I think they are in the right track.
