Not that I care about TGA (never watch it), but I do find it hilarious that Yotei can be the 2nd most nominated game this year, but is not nominated for GOTY.

Definitely feels like not wanting to have it there more than anything else.
So the game has AT LEAST one of the 5 best:
- main characters performance
- audio design
- music
- art direction
- story
- game direction
- action adventure games
... but nope, not going to get selected for one of the 6 spots for game of the year...
It definitely would not have won, but it really feels like it's at least massively inconsistent.

I guess having 2 Sony games in the Game of the Year category doesn't go well with the "made by 30 people and their 100+ friends" propaganda Doritos Pope has implemented in his shows the last two years LOL.

man im gonna be honest. i dont think anybody here should be complaining about the nominees. Sony got 18 nominations across like three games lol.

It's more an observation than an actual complain. If the categories represent various aspects of a game and the nominees represent the best examples in each category then the 5 games with the most nominations should be the nominees for the best of the year ... or at least the second most nominated shouldn't be out of the conversation LOL.
But that's just logic, I'm not actually going to complain because first we all know 33 is going to win and second personally I never have expectations for that show, I know that what I like may not be in sync with what the committee wants to promote each year. Every time PlayStation wins something I'm genuinely surprised lol. (Minus the obvious ones like Helldiver's best multiplayer game last year that is obvious Arc is going to win this year).

In the end it's always the prefference of the people picking it, I remember last year the host and organizer himself came out to say he is not involved in the decision process after a DLC that was not an standalone game that you could play by itself was nominated for the GOTY.
Inconsistency is the word here, as you said, by logic it's hard to justify a game that is one of the best in every category it's involved, having more nominations than all but 1 other game, is somehow missing from the overall GOTY list.
Winning is an entirely different thing, I think we all expect Expedition 33 to be the favorite after the reception it got.
This might be the year I pick up another Dualsense from the Black Friday sale lol.
Finally got to play my first Chinese video game: Where Winds Meet! Put in some 20 hours~ and it's shockingly good. I just fail to make sense out of the Metacritic/Opencritic scores. It does have some glaring technical issues, but the core game is fantastic.
Cons (so far):
Bad localisation, very buggy, arguably the worst pop in I've ever encountered in a game (and cutscenes...), weird English voice acting with poor lip sync (will probably switch to Chinese), confusing menus and tutorials, the worst framerate I experienced in a PS5 game (one area drops to like sub 25 fps and stays there) with frequent freezing when using certain exploration abilities. This is supposed to be a mobile game... what's going on?
Pros:
Loads of things to do, interesting story/lore, very enjoyable combat with a sweet Sekiro flavor, nice puzzles, creative environmental abilities, huge and layered world that is a joy to explore, solid side quests, good animations, unique and fun traversal, impressive (if buggy and incomplete) character creator; I think this is the first game I played/watched where the character you create is both voiced and facially animated in cutscenes.
Playing on Legend/Minimal Guidance Mode.
