Finally got to play my first Chinese video game: Where Winds Meet! Put in some 20 hours~ and it's shockingly good. I just fail to make sense out of the Metacritic/Opencritic scores. It does have some glaring technical issues, but the core game is fantastic.

Cons (so far):

Bad localisation, very buggy, arguably the worst pop in I've ever encountered in a game (and cutscenes...), weird English voice acting with poor lip sync (will probably switch to Chinese), confusing menus and tutorials, the worst framerate I experienced in a PS5 game (one area drops to like sub 25 fps and stays there) with frequent freezing when using certain exploration abilities. This is supposed to be a mobile game... what's going on?

Pros:

Loads of things to do, interesting story/lore, very enjoyable combat with a sweet Sekiro flavor, nice puzzles, creative environmental abilities, huge and layered world that is a joy to explore, solid side quests, good animations, unique and fun traversal, impressive (if buggy and incomplete) character creator; I think this is the first game I played/watched where the character you create is both voiced and facially animated in cutscenes.

Playing on Legend/Minimal Guidance Mode.
