Ghost of Yotei day, finally!

Around the Network

Love the cover, the disc and was surprised it has a golden art reversible cover!

Got a couple of hours in with GoY.

The open world feels so much more dynamic similar to RDR2. Exploration is great, with how you slowly unravel the world, recover information, and discover new points of interest. It doesn't do anything new, but its already shaping up to be one of my favorite open worlds this generation.

I've been playing Ghost of Tsushima on PC the last few weeks and been loving it. I can't wait for Yotei to come to PC. How is everyone on PS5 enjoying it so far?

To quote myself from the Yotei thead:

Three hours in and feeling great. It's not dramatic, but I can definitely see and feel the improvements in production values. Performances, flora and fauna, npc's, etc. Early days but the map feels much more dense with content. Everywhere I look there's at least one distinct destination with something to do not far away. The sound design really is excellent and the game makes better use of the DualSense than any other game I can remember since Astro Bot. The biggest thing that's taking some getting used to are the combat differences. After multiple playthroughs as Jin I'm so used to his style that Atsu is a sizeable adjustment. Looking forward to more!

Just stoped my first play session, a bit over 3 hours.

Up until now, I preffer Tsushima first few hours, but that's because Tsushima starts really strong, and Yotei is A LOT more open from the start, so I was mostly admiring the world and doing random stuff rather than the awesome beach to bridge focused story events of Tsushima.

The only complain I have up until now is that some NPCs looks pulled straight from a PS2 game, extremely simple face textures, non existent expressions and plastic hair fibers, really can't understand how they could let something so low quality get to the final build of the game, because Atsu (the main character) and the few other main characters look pretty good, not really close to top Sony quality level, but definitely more than decent, there is absolutely no need for such low quality NPCs.

Yotei world is just... breathtaking, it honestly surprised me even with my high expectations, it keeps changing light colors as the time passes and weather changes and it looks stunning every single second. Huge improvement over Tsushima already ridiculously beautiful world. And the game already showed me sneak peaks of vastly different areas as it seems the game many sub regions have very distinct looks.

The combat needs to open up more, just like Tsushima took its time, but it seems

Spoiler!

like the hunt of each of the six will be the major points to introduce the new combat styles and weapons.

Which points to a good game approach IMO, rewarding you and provinding new stuff each step of the journey.

There seems to have a lot more to do and discover in the world than on Tsushima, explorations may be well rewarded and it's something I personally really love.

I was not presented to any really promising side quest storyline up until now, that is something I think Tsushima did really well, but let's see how it goes this time.

I'm really excited for Atsu's story, I already quite like her, nothing like Jin but also really cool.

Yeah I am on act 3 of Tsushima and things are far too spread out in the third area of the game. I'll complete a Mongol territory and no question marks popup on the map. I'm not looking to 100% the game, but I've done the vast majority of content so far. I also plan on playing the DLC once I beat the main story.

Tsushima started off with a bang. Seeing Jin transform into the Ghost over the course of the game has been fun. I never use standoff and tend to focus on using bow and arrows, kunai, etc. That does mean when I am forced into a duel I tend to not do very well.

As far as NPCs they are serviceable enough for me in Tsushima. Just regular cutscenes between characters things are quite wooden.

The trailers for Yotei make the world look gorgeous and I look forward to playing it on PC on max (near max) settings.

Yotei is so freaking good.

The world feels much better than Tsushima and the devs are definitely flexing with it, everywhere looks like a paiting and its filled to the brim with moving parts and particles.

I just unlocked my second main weapon and yeah, I'm really liking it. Still preffer Tsushima katana stances combat flow, it really clicked with me, but let's see how the new weapons make me feel.

Managed to snag Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut (PS5) for only $30USD. Big sale across Best Buy, Target, and Amazon today! Not sure if I’ll personally play it, I’m very iffy on blood in games, but I know my brother will definitely have fun with it.
