Forums - Sony - PlayStation Nation |OT| Playing Astro Bot on the Horizon Until Dawn

FromSoftware's The Duskbloods exclusively on Switch 2.

GameFreak's Beast of Reincarnation exclusively NOT on Switch?! And an actual ambitious game?!

FreakySoftware times!

The reception of Toukon has been great but the lack of acknowledgment that it's a PlayStation game is going to fall like a ton of bricks on the regular entitled pc user when the game asks them a PSN ID lol.

I mean, the first time that appears in the trailer is the Playstation Studios logo, and they included like a 10 minutes talk about how Sony was the one approaching both Marvel and ASW with the idea of making this game, so... lol.

yup and that's exactly the problem. They should now, yet a lot of people and even gaming sites are only talking about Arc and Marvel like it's a direct contract. Maybe time and more trailers will make them acknowledge reality but I can already see the meaningless steam "bad" reviews lol.

More Astro Bot today
More Stellar Blade Tomorrow
More Kojima in 16 days

edit: apparently new AB is 10th of .. July 😅

At least Maximilian Dood, one of, if not the most influential fighting game content creator, has said multiple times in his stream for his chat that it's a Sony game. So some of fanbase is aware.

Caring more about the perception of what platform holder a game is tied to rather than the game itself is crazy lol

Here's all the fighting game community cares about....Arc System Works/Marvel. That's it lol. Everything else will be irrelevant to most, and it should be. I was sold on that concept alone. PlayStation publishing it? Cool. Doesn't change my excitement for the game. We also don't know if PSN will be required. Sony has removed the requirement for most of their PC games several months ago and is instead opting to incentivize users to login to a PSN account. There hasn't been any other details about the PC version of Marvel Tokon right now. I usually do it anyway because I get some nice boosters to speed the progress of the game up for me lol

Game looks fantastic regardless and I'm getting it day one!

You called down the thunder, now reap the whirlwind

PS4 remains shockingly big for an old platform. A very large part of the active Playstation players refuse to upgrade to PS5. I guess the high entry price and the long cross-generational period are to blame.

At this rate, 75%~ of PS5 Sony titles will be crossgen with PS4 or PS6, and this is not counting late ports and remasters lol.

Out of the 35 games PlayStation will release by the end of 2025 for PS5, 13 of them are cross gen with the PS4 (my number of ps5 games doesn't include games Sony worked in but doesn't publish on pc like Ronin or DS. The number of cross gen games does include remasters but doesn't include remakes), so a 37.14% of games are cross gen.

That's without including the 4 games confirmed (expected in the case of Fairgames) for next year that won't be on ps4 and will make the percentage go down to 33.33%. A perfect 1/3, I love when numbers do that.

And yes games from studios that are going to release on 2027 and beyond are most likely going to be cross with PS6. What you talk about cross generational period is a good point and made me remember how a lot of people questioned why LEGO Horizon wasn't on ps4 if it runs on the Switch and the answer was exactly that. They cut the release of most games for PS4 in 2022, The Show was their only game that was still releasing on PS4 officially ending release in 2024. They couldn't just go back to release cross gens 2 years after.

The next crossgen period could be a lot longer, especially if a portable Playstation is in the works. Looking at Daniel Ahmad's posts and some comments made by Sony:

1. PS4's remaining users are primarily playing live service titles. Helldivers 2 and a few Chinese games being the only big live service titles not available on last gen consoles was not enough to entice everyone to upgrade. But GTA6 online should accelerate the transition, and games like CoD and FIFA finally ditching PS4 should help too. You gotta wonder though how many will jump ship to PC.

2. A very high percentage (38%) of PS+ users have upgraded to premium tiers. Meaning PS+ Extra/Premium may no longer be far behind Xbox GamePass Standard/Ultimate in numbers.

3. More than half of Helldivers 2's revenue comes from microtransactions. When all is said and done, this game will be Sony's most successful title ever by a significant margin (not counting mobile games). Would love to know how much Gran Turismo 7 is making though. With a PC version, GT7 might hold its own.
