I finally got around to completing The Persistence Enhanced. I enjoyed it even if it is not a super incredible game.

It's a first person rougelike, set across 4 levels (decks on a ship). It's also a forgiving one since there aren't random run-sepcific enhancements you get: everything is permanent. So if you get better equipment drops and can afford to create them, you'll be permanently enhanced for every run. Same goes for skillpoints you collect to increase your health, strength, MP use and stealth.

Because of this, what starts out as a pretty stealth based survival game, ends up feeling closer to something like Doom (though not nearly as choatic or exciting, this is just a basis idea) as you have added powers and weapons to tackle enemies head on.

I kind of hope FireSprite look to create a sequel of sorts. I think there's a lot potential for a far greater game here. More weapons, more enemies (actually better designs cause of some of them are just aesthetically quite ugly) and a more modern control scheme/ feel could allow for a potential Doom-esque like rougelike.

The fact that the stats you get are permanent is what makes it attractive I feel (unless you're into more unforgiving rougelikes) because it feels like I have a chance every subsequent run. It's not a difficult game either, but it was fun enough to get me to platinum it.

FireSprite has used words like "dark" and "horror" to describe the game they are working in, they also are looking for an animator with creatures or animal experience. So you may have your wishes granted.

Bungie sent creators a box that contains a note with the date April 12th and a website that right now is blank.

I mean, just don't buy games at launch I reckon. I know that's probably obvious advice, and easier said than done.

But it's the only way.

Just seems better to do this in general now regardless of price. So many times they add QOL features or updates to games that it's better to just wait as long as you can. Like AC Shadows just released PSSR so if you have a pro now you get an even better quality version of the game.

Looking forward to seeing what Bungie has in store with Marathon. Even though I haven't played Destiny in 4 years, I haven't missed a Bungie game since the first Myth in 1997, and I ain't planning on breaking that.

Now that I've gotten to play the original Marathon trilogy over the past year, I'm actually excited to see all the easter eggs that reference the original lore.

Bungie's reputation is legitimately the only reason I bought Destiny at launch lol. I don't think I've ever bought a multiplayer based game after that, not including sports games like College Football 25 or NBA 2K.

I've tried other new multiplayer games this gen, like The Finals and Helldivers 2, but I couldn't stick with them for long. But I easily got dozens of hours in Destiny before any of the DLC came out. I'm excited to see what Marathon is all about even if its PvP.

The one thing I can confidently say about Bungie is that they've never made an un-fun game lol. Destiny's story was incredibly "meh" until the Taken King expansion, but the gameplay loop was undeniably fun! Grinded the hell out of raids, and even moreso when they added titles in Destiny 2 the stories were always up/down/up/down throughout the entirety of Destiny's history, but the gameplay loop, Bungie never missed.

And I anticipate that will continue with Marathon. One of the good things about Extraction Shooters, if you're not a big PvP player, are that they are PvPvE based. So while you are competing against other players, there's also NPC's for you to worry about. So if you're with a group of friends, y'all can split up duties where you can focus on the objectives while your teammates focus on other players and NPCs.

It's certainly a big risk as it's still a pretty niche genre overall, but Bungie is very good at making something fun. It is the studio that sold us on taking the core concept of World of Warcraft and turning it into a First-Person Shooter after all lol.

Bungie is really throwing in the kitchen sink when it comes to stability of the game. Not even Destiny has had dedicated servers, disconnect recovery, or especially a dedicated security team LOL

PS Plus going up again here in Brazil.
Fuck you too, Sony.

Damn man, and gaming is already a expensive hobby as it is there.

The only saving grace are the deals. I never pay even close to the actual prices, but it does makes it more expensive every year.

But look at this shit. Prices:

2016: 100 to 130 (30%)

2019: 130 to 150 (15.5%)

2021: 150 to 200 (33.3%)

2023: 200 to 280 (40%)

2025: 280 to 360 (28.5%)

This shit it insane, it's now 3.6x more expensive than it was 10 years ago. It's regularly getting adjusted up and the % it goes up is usually in the ballpark of 30%!

As I said, I usually get 2 promos, one from Sony and the other from a psn credit store, everytime I renew it I pay way less than that, but it's getting ridiculous. Sony is pretty much killing the service here.
