The only baffling thing to me is why Sony acquired Neon Koi and to an extent Firewalk.
I get Microsoft igniting the consolidation arms race, but there surely had to be better candidates lol.
"Expanding beyond PlayStation devices and crafting engaging online experiences alongside our single-player games are key focal areas for us as we evolve our revenue streams. We need to be strategic, though, in bringing our games to new platforms and recognize when our games fall short of meeting player expectations."
Interesting wording.
It's always terrible to see such a huge array of talent left jobless (looks like Sony will try to move some to other internal studios at least) for something that took so much time and effort to make.

None. They were founded in 2020 and purchased in 2022 for Sony's attempt at mobile gaming. Unfortunately nothing came out of it.
Kind of gives credence to the $400 million figure altogether.
According to two sources familiar with the agreement, Concord's development deal at Firewalk Studios was $200 million.

That did not include marketing, the sale of IP rights, the acquisition of the studio, or game's delayed launch. https://t.co/8vfb1rGAWO

So it was a mobile studio? Really didn't know.
Looks like Sony is wasting quite a lot of money on bad decision, investors must not be too happy with them lately.
Sad for all those people losing their jobs, hopefully they can be realocated to other studios.

Yeah, my bad lol. Although Moriarty was saying the entire budget was $400 million.
It looks like that figure can only be accurate if taking into account the budget, marketing, studio acquisition, and IP rights.
