When MS was thinking about acquiring Bungie again (April 2021), they estimated the size around 500 employees (documents from the ABK case).
According to this report from IGN, in December 2021 they had more than 800 employees (one moth before being acquired by Sony).
According to Bloomberg, when the first round of layoffs happened in October 2023, they had 1200 employees.
And after what happened today, we know that they had 1300 employees.
So, in a bit more than 3 years they went from 500 (April 2021) to 1300 employees (July 2024).
It sounds like too ambitious, indeed.

So 850 employees are meant to work on Marathon and keep Destiny 2 on life support????? More layoffs are definitely going to happen.
