Forums - Sony Discussion - PlayStation Nation |OT| Playing Astro Bot on the Horizon Until Dawn

After some shipping delays. My refurbished PS2 came in. I've been wanting to play the original Gungrave for over a week. I did. Glorious! Love this game! Also played some Neo Contra. Another fun game tho hard as hell. Any game that lets you run on helicopter blades while shooting is pretty cool. Later will take the plastic off Nano Blade and try that. So many action games on PS2 ranging in quality but still interesting.

Hope my pre-order arrives day 1 as I have used a different store (the one I usually use wasn't giving promo until recently, and now it is even better priced than the one I used this time kkkkkk, and I paid in advance).

I hope Sony's other studios have more luck getting into the GaaS scene than ND. Whether they were uncomfortable to make live-service games or not, according to Jason Schreier, they still have the potential to knock it out of the park.

Except for Fairgame$. That game looks like a less interesting version of Hyenas, which aside from its zero-g gimmick, didn't look all that interesting either.

Considering most of the layoffs were for QA and all contractors that isn't as bad news as we have been seeing in other areas. But yes Factions lack of formal progress reports and several negative rumors it seems likely that they are real.

fairgames and hyenas weren't even the same type of MP game. fairgames is more akin to PayDay , whereas Hyenas was an extraction shooter.

That said, I think it's disappointing that Factions has stumbled. Honestly, ND should've just remade the TloU1 Factions mode with the TLoU2 engine and gameplay systems. The first MP is still being played, and I think they could've just added content via new faction types from TLoU2 and locations to play in.

Maybe add a horde mode like UC4. And really, job done.

Oh well, can't get everything right. All that matters is that they have other SP projects in the works.

Yes and no. While they are different types of MP games, Payday is exclusively a co-op PVE game whereas Fairgame$ is exclusively PVP. Idk how that will work when it's a heist game, but more details are needed. I primarily made the comparison though with some of the abilities and gadgets being similar to Hyenas and not to mention the over-the-top punk style aesthetic both games were going for.

That would've been great to have things like horde mode that would've worked perfectly in TLOU Factions. It makes me immediately think of that scene in the show where a TON of infected that pop up from the ground. But, that's only 1 piece of the puzzle. The business model and reward system would have to be fantastic as well if the game wants to stand a chance, and I wouldn't be surprised if those were the biggest stumbling blocks the devs are having with the game.

Hopefully the other devs don't stumble on the same issues with their GAAS projects.

This whole situation is so confusing.  Factions II seemed like an easy shoe-in.  I can't fathom any of its most dedicated fans asking for more than understandable basics:

-Part II's gameplay foundation (of course)

-A decent variety of launch maps

-Avoid OG Factions' few missteps, like a couple of OP weapons (that were kinda pay-2-win)

-A non-intrusive cosmetic storefront

The more bad news I hear from this, the more I wonder what ND had in mind.
