President Karen von Yamtits ended trade talks with Canada over an ad that ran in Canada (and parts of the northern U.S. that get Canadian TV) featuring St. Ronnie on the evils of tariffs (though his administration and Congress did go on to impose tariffs on Japan).

I'm trying to post a Youtube link to the "offending" ad, but I keep getting errors.

In case it's blocked:

Transcript: (Reagan narrating)

When someone says, "Let's impose tariffs on foreign imports," it looks like they're doing the patriotic thing by protecting American products and jobs. And sometimes for a short while it works, but only for a short time.

But over the long run, such trade barriers hurt every American worker and consumer. High tariffs inevitably lead to retaliation by foreign countries and the triggering of fierce trade wars. Then the worst happens. Markets shrink and collapse. Businesses and industries shut down and millions of people lose their jobs.

Throughout the world, there's a growing realization that the way to prosperity for all nations is rejecting protectionist legislation and promoting fair and free competition. America's jobs and growth are at stake.

Looks like Doug Ford caved.

EDIT: He's running the ads through the World Series, so there's that. Trying to reach a big audience while still appeasing President Yamtits. I stand somewhat corrected.

Trump defaces an iconic symbol of the US.

He is currently destroying a significant portion of The White House to make space for a gaudy ballroom.

Venezuelan Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez announced Thursday that the armed forces are maintaining a full deployment along the country's coastline to achieve the "optimal point" of coordination and readiness to respond to the US naval buildup in the Caribbean Sea.

I remember when it was cool when the goverment posted some game reference..

There's one accomplishment you can hand to Trump. He did to the White House what Osama bin Laden couldn't.

There are two gubernatorial races next Tuesday.

In Virginia, Democratic candidate Abigail Spanberger, representing VA-7, faces off against incumbent Lt. Governor Winsome Earle-Sears for Governor. In Virginia, governors may not serve consecutive terms, and they are vying to replace Glenn Youngkin, who was once seen as a rising Republican star, though he has fizzled out in that regard. The lieutenant governor and AG races are also taking place, with Jay Jones hoping to unseat incumbent AG Jason Miyares.

In New Jersey, Representative Mikie Sherrill (D-NJ11) and businessman Jack Ciatarelli (R) to replace term-limited Phil Murphy as governor.
