I don't really understand the need for the entirety of the left to rise up to denounce every random college student who says something bad. It seems to never be enough for some people. I've spent years arguing with and criticizing people on the left, but there is always some random asshole who I've never heard of that I've somehow failed to denounce, so oops, all the centrists are fascists now. I didn't say "this random person I've never heard of said something bad" loudly enough, so this Twitter user now supports authoritarianism.

I think it is and has always been bullshit. People just want the moral high ground to justify their desire for fascism. They should own their own shit instead of putting it on strangers. If you honestly argue that you are a Republican because the left didn't denounce some college kids hard enough, go into the woods and have a long hard think, because there's something going on there that you are purposely avoiding looking at.

It's also a huge double standard. There were crickets when four Democrats were shot in Minnesota, with two of them dead (and there were almost six victims - the 9 year old daughter of the Hoffmans, and another Dem lawmaker who was probably saved because the real cops showed up around the same time Boelter did). Nothing about how Republicans needed to dial down the rhetoric after years of painting Democrats as godless communists and enemies of America.

There was a 13 page thread on some Sydney Sweeney ad that I would never have otherwise known or cared about, but nothing on the spasm of outrage over the most militantly "mid" chain restaurant in the United States changing its signage after years of slumping sales. They sure as shit didn't care about Cracker Barrel for all the years its sales were going down the crapper that prompted that signage change in the first place. Even Trump had to go whine about it. If you ask me, the lady that runs Cracker Barrel should get a massive raise and a bonus. She made CB relevant for the first time since they fired Brad's wife and probably bought them a couple more years of life while right wingers go to Cracker Barrel just to prove how much they "love" it before it promptly falls back into the same state of neglect and decay.

"In fact, some Republicans who consider themselves defenders of unfettered speech are getting more comfortable with limiting it. Sen. Cynthia Lummis, R-Wyo., told Semafor that 'an FCC license, it’s not a right. It really is a privilege.'

'Under normal times, in normal circumstances, I tend to think that the First Amendment should always be sort of the ultimate right. And that there should be almost no checks and balances on it. I don’t feel that way anymore,; Lummis added.

'I feel like something’s changed culturally. And I think that there needs to be some cognizance that things have changed,” she added. “We just can’t let people call each other those kinds of insane things and then be surprised when politicians get shot and the death threats they are receiving and then trying to get extra money for security.'

Sen. Kevin Cramer, R-N.D., said he’d 'suppose' Carr could have kept quiet and let pressure build naturally but had no problem with the chair’s comments."

Kimmel's suspension prompts free-speech Republicans to reconsider their boundaries - Semafor

These Congresscreeps are getting really comfortable saying the quiet parts loud.

Shouldn't be a surprise when you watch the small bit of the CNN video a few posts before yours.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV will outsell Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I was wrong.

Trump ended the war between Aber Baijan and Albania.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

No more wars, eh.

I think we've been desensitised to how insane it is that this is an actual, real message published by the actual head of state and government of the country with the largest GDP in the world. People posting on this forum care more about decorum than he does.

They only care about decorum when it comes to liberals/the left. Meanwhile, the right can call people they don’t agree with godless communists, baby killers, and enemies of the state (as Trump does regularly) and they don’t give a damn.

Trump has called various Democrats/Democrats in general:
- demons
- animals
- fascists

When Democrats call out bad behavior, they're inciting violence.

But no one say anything about Republicans doing it. "You're unwell, and a liar."

There's a thread devoted to this. It's disgusting. I'd say Nintendo's famous lawyer team should sue the Trump administration into the ground, but Trump would just impose 10000% tariffs on Japan.
