welp, I guess the nation's largest city is no longer free to elect a mayor of its choosing

NYC electing someone who wants to actually HELP the people. MAGA and the rich are freaking out over Zohryan Mamdani because he wants the rich and corporations to pay actual taxes.

He wants to freeze the rent, make buses free, improve safety in the city by improving the social safety net, make childcare free, have the city to own grocery stores to bring prices down, build over 200,000 new affordable homes to deal with the housing crisis, crackdown on bad landlords, and raise the min wage to $30 an hour over the next bunch of years.

Not a surprise NYC people voted him over Andrew Cuomo, who is a corporate Dem that was forced out after sexually harassing a dozen or so women.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

Am I an idiot or is that not just a 20% tax on Americans? Lol.

Also Vietnam roads aren't built for America's massive cars so they ain't importing shit when it comes to SUVs.

  • U.S. goods exports to Vietnam in 2024 were $13.1 billion
  • U.S. goods imports from Vietnam  in 2024 were $136.6 billion

Those overpriced, ugly-ass Instamommy tanks will rust in warehouses.

Yes, that means 20% US tax on Switch 2 consoles shipped from Vietnam. And double the tax if companies send goods to Vietnam before reloading them onto a ship to the US.

Vietnam has a high import tax on cars (not from Asia), 0% tariff won't change anything.
Well maybe a little, it was 15% or less before Trump.

Last published date: 2024-01-30

In addition to significant drops in tariff rates when Vietnam first joined the WTO in January 2007, tariffs have decreased steadily over the ensuing years. Thus, most U.S. exports now face tariffs of 15% or less.

Import duties on vehicles from ASEAN countries, particularly Thailand and Indonesia, are currently 0% due to trade agreements. However, vehicles from other countries, like those in Europe or the US, may face duties ranging from 32% to 70% or higher. In addition to import duties, there are other taxes like Special Consumption Tax (SCT) and Value Added Tax (VAT) that significantly increase the final cost of imported cars.

So Trump got duped again lol. Art of the kneel.

And yeah have fun with your American SUV in there.

As if it couldn't get any worse

US ‘Bunker Buster Act’ could arm Israel with B-2 stealth bombers

A pair of US lawmakers are introducing the Bunker Buster Bill, which would authorise President Trump to transfer B‑2 stealth bombers to Israel.

Representative Josh Gottheimer, who will jointly brought forward the bill, said on X, “Iran is the world’s leading state sponsor of terror and is responsible for the deaths of thousands of Americans. As Iran rebuilds its nuclear program, we must maintain maximum deterrence.”

“My bipartisan Bunker Buster Act will give Israel the tools she needs to deter Iranian aggression and take out their underground nuclear sites – strengthening US national security.”

Bunker buster bombs can penetrate more than 200 feet of concrete or rock before detonating and were used by the US in recent air strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities.

US is responsible for the deaths of millions across the ME.

Over 432,000 civilians have died violently as a direct result of the post-9/11 wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Yemen, and Pakistan. However, when indirect deaths caused by the wars' impact on infrastructure, economies, and healthcare are included, the total death toll could be as high as 4.5 to 4.7 million.

And those 'thousands' of deaths of Americans are during the illegal invasion of Iraq... (to oust the Dictator put there by the CIA)

The U.S. Department of Defense has said that Iran was responsible for at least 608 American troop deaths in Iraq between 2003 and 2011, some 17% of all U.S. service personnel deaths in that time period.

They're so desperate, the xenophobia being displayed is insane.

If you reverse image search this with Google, the AI will tell you this is highlighting a "controversial past tweet" from Mamdani. It calls "his" tweet highly insensitive and says it trivializes what happens that day.

AI is so fucking garbage.

Mamdani is such a tech genius, able to make posts on Twitter 5 years before the service actually started.

Republican hypocrisy, they are now the party who gets the most upset by words, but we always knew they were a bunch of hypocrites, free speech for them but not for anyone else, can't even enter America now if you criticise Trump, Lmao. And they want to get upset about a rapper chanting death to a genocidal military? Oops, I've now been banned from entering America.

What's happening to the rapper is actually the worst kind of censorship. If you deny a rapper visa to travel and perform in other countries, you're effectively canceling him and destroying his career.

This is ultimate cancel culture.

Every right winger should come out and denounce it. But watch MAGA bend over again and justify it, because the perfect daddy's image must not be besmirched. .

Bob shows are getting cancelled in the UK, France, and Germany. Europe is so fucking pathetic.

Death to the IDF though....

The IDF should be disbanded. If you don't take the chant literal, as in killing IDF soldiers, then it's the same as any other death to 'institution' chant.

1990: Kill/shoot the boer.

It's not the same as Death to Jews / Israelis or Death to Arabs
https://www.pbs.org/newshour/world/thousands-of-israeli-nationalists-chant-death-to-arabs-during-annual-procession-through-jerusalem

But of course Nelson Mandela was a terrorist too... That's how the establishment tries to hold onto power and maintain occupation.

Anyway it was effective, it got a lot of attention and laid bear the hypocrisy of the West. Genocide and starving babies/children is fine, chanting death to genocide and occupation/apartheid is not.
