I am told by experts that the underground tunnel at Isfahan is a MUCH harder target than Fordow and it is not clear whether the Tomahawks were able to destroy it. “There is no way they got in that tunnel It’s deeper than Qom - and harder rock,” well placed source tells Fox.

IAEA inspectors reported multiple times it was used for storage of UF6. (UF6 was one of the large precursor materials to make enriched uranium, but there was no enrichment going on inside of that mountain.)

President Trump, by deciding to launch a military attack against Iran, revealed six truths:

1. Israel not only failed in its ten-day military operation against Iran but was on the verge of defeat. Had Israel not been in a crisis, the U.S. would not have intervened

2. This is the first time that two nuclear-armed countries have launched a military attack on a non-nuclear country. This demonstrates that the NPT (Non-Proliferation Treaty) holds no real value specifically for the U.S. and Israel; it has merely been used as a political tool.

3. The U.S. military attack on Iran is a clear violation of the UN Charter—a fact that was officially stated by the Secretary-General of the United Nations. Thus, the U.S. has shown that it does not respect the UN Charter, despite being one of its principal drafters.

4. Trump's national security team either failed to properly assess the consequences of a U.S. military attack on Iran, or they were unable to dissuade the President—or perhaps the majority of them actually supported the decision. In any case, this event has further revealed the extent of Netanyahu's influence over the White House.

5. Iran has suffered irreparable damage, but the negative consequences of this incident are not limited to Iran alone—they will also harm the United States and jeopardize regional peace and security.

6. The attacks by these two nuclear-armed countries against Iran revealed that the NPT not only has no real value, but is in fact harmful. Countries like North Korea, India, Pakistan and Israel that rejected the treaty and developed nuclear weapons have remained immune from military attacks by nuclear weapon states.

As someone who has spent decades working tirelessly to advocate WMDFZ in the Middle East and resolve the hostilities between the United States, the West, and Iran, I regret to say that President Trump has destroyed diplomacy and made a grave mistake.

Iran must never acquire the bomb.

With tensions in the Middle East at a new peak, stability must be the priority.

And respect for international law is critical.

Now is the moment for Iran to engage in a credible diplomatic solution.

The negotiating table is the only place to end this crisis.

Iran's Response

The good result today is that we leave the room with the impression that the Iranian side is fundamentally ready to continue talking about all important issues," German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul said, adding both sides had held "very serious talks."

This was only a day ago, only for EU the next day to scream at Iran to return to the negotiation table because they are America's dog and must defend America no matter what, despite America bombing Iran during EU-Iranian negotiations. America screwing over Europe when it comes to Russia-Ukraine. But Europe still rolls over like a good little boy.

Yeah and Iran has said they've already emptied the facilities anyway, now Iran could be lying but it would have made sense to empty the facilities when America has been talking about attacking these facilities for weeks now. So what has been achieved? I agree that if you were to make an attack like this (and to be clear, I'm completely against this) but if you were to do it, then actually destroy the nuclear materials, otherwise, what was the point? You've done nothing except a PR strike and only pushed Iran further away from ever de-arming nuclear.

But maybe that was the point and they just want an excuse to raze Iran to the ground. Iran could end up having more restraint than America if the damage isn't that significant. Seems like Iran is for now just focused on Israel (new bombings last night) but they're likely assessing the damage. We'll have to wait and see if Iran actually attacks US military bases. But I could see an increase in terrorist attacks either way, no matter if Iran directly retaliates or not. It also shows negotiations with America are pointless and pushes even more countries to nukes.

Looks like they were telling the truth

Satellite images show unusual activity at Fordow days before US attack

High-quality satellite images taken on June 19 and June 20 show unusual activity involving trucks and vehicles near the entrance to the underground fuel enrichment facility at Fordow.

The images captured by Maxar show a group of 16 cargo trucks positioned along the access road leading to the tunnel entrance of the facility. The majority of these trucks were later relocated roughly 1km (0.6 miles) northwest of the road leading to the facility.

The visuals also depict additional trucks and several bulldozers near the site’s main entrance, including one truck positioned directly adjacent to the primary tunnel entrance.

Hegseth says US attacks took ‘months’ of planning, involved ‘misdirection’

The secretary of defense says the US strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites were an “incredible and overwhelming success”, without providing any details.

“The order we received from our commander-in-chief [Trump] was focused; it was powerful and it was clear. We devastated the Iranian nuclear programme,” he told reporters at the Pentagon.

“This is a plan that took months and weeks of positioning and preparation, so that we could be ready when the president of the United States called,” he told reporters.

“It took a great deal of precision. It involved misdirection.”

You know, it really is an indictment of the US presidency when one of my favorite presidents, "Ike", screwed the pooch back in the 1950s by couping Iran and now Trump one of the worst if not worst president in US history is awful on Iran and even worse than pretty much anyone has been.
Pretty much every US president has been a criminal, and many have been war criminals.

Trump's negotiations were as horseshit as Russia's, pretend to negotiate in good faith, bomb the shit out of the country, Trump wants Iran now to backdown so he can say "Look at how amazing I am! Look at how powerful I am! I got Iran to surrender to the mighty USA!" then when it comes to Russia-Ukraine, he can't even bring himself to enforce new sanctions, Lol.

Ironically, the attack came after Trump's special envoy, Steve Witkoff, and Iranian Foriegn Minister Abbas Araghchi agreed that the first three rounds of nuclear talks in Oman and Italy could be a credible base for an agreement.

An informed Iranian source told me: "The key elements of the deal between Witkoff and Araghchi were agreed upon over three rounds of negotiations in Muscat and Rome. The deal was as follows: Iran would accept maximum nuclear inspections and transparency, including implementation of the Additional Protocol and Subsidiary Arrangements Code 3.1 - the highest international mechanisms for inspecting a country's nuclear programme."

The source added: "Second, Iran would convert or export its existing stockpile of 60-percent enriched uranium, which is sufficient to build 10 nuclear bombs. Third, Iran would halt its current high-level enrichment at 60 percent and 20 percent and reduce it to the level of civil purposes, which is 3.67 percent. Finally, Iran would fully cooperate with the IAEA to resolve all technical ambiguities.

"In return, the United States would lift the nuclear-related sanctions. It was agreed that the technical teams of both sides would draft the final agreement based on these four points. But suddenly, after a call between Netanyahu and Trump, the American side stopped sending its technical team to Muscat and, in a 180-degree shift in its position, demanded the complete shutdown of Iran's peaceful enrichment programme.

"This shift delayed the agreement until Trump's two-month deadline expired - and while the sixth round was set for day 63, Israel launched an attack on Iran on day 61. This was Israel's trap - designed to drag the US and Trump into a war with Iran."

Middle East Eye

If all this is true then JFC this whole thing is just incredibly fucking stupid, America actually came close to a decent deal with Iran and Trump/Netanyahu decided to just say "fuck it" and bomb the shit out of Iran instead of working on this agreement...All of Witkoff's progress down the drain, all of EU's efforts down the drain. Trump's own intelligence community counter his excuses, Iran wasn't anywhere close to a nuke, they had a good deal in progress and they still decided to just bomb Iran because...

After overnight strikes on Iran, President Trump on Sunday declared the operation a "success," and said that Iran's nuclear enrichment facilities were "completely and totally obliterated." But his early public pronouncements contrast with more cautious assessments by the U.S. and Israeli militaries.

The Israeli military, in an initial analysis, believes the heavily fortified nuclear site at Fordo has sustained serious damage from the American strike on Sunday, but has not been completely destroyed, according to two Israeli officials with knowledge of the matter. The officials also said it appeared Iran had moved equipment, including uranium, from the site.

A senior U.S. official similarly acknowledged that the American strike on the Fordo site did not destroy the heavily fortified facility but said the strike had severely damaged it, taking it "off the table." The person noted that even 12 bunker-busting bombs could not destroy the site.

Iran’s Fordo Nuclear Site Said to Look Severely Damaged, Not Destroyed - The New York Times

Congratulations America! Scuttle a decent nuclear deal with Iran, encourage nuclear proliferation, put lives at risk, make sure the world knows to never trust negotiations with yourself, show the world that if Israel says one thing and America says another, America is lying because they will always secretly be on Israel's side, all to "severely damage" a mostly empty facility, mission accomplished. We've gone from "totally destroyed" to "severely damaged" and "we've destroyed their nuclear material!" to "actually, they moved most of it beforehand"

‘The beginning of a long escalation’

David Phillips, a senior adviser at the US State Department during the Clinton, Bush and Obama administrations, says he believes Iran will retaliate against US military bases and interests following Trump’s order to attack Iranian nuclear sites.

“Trump had announced a two-week window for diplomacy to work. It seems like the US has jumped the gun and decided to pull the trigger and attack anyhow, risking escalation in the region and counterstrikes against US troops – 40,000 of them nearby,” he told Al Jazeera.

Phillips, currently an academic visitor at Oxford University, said that “the importance of Persian pride” should not be underestimated.

“Now that Iran has been attacked – not only by Israel but by the United States – Iran will look for reprisals, and that largely is going to focus on the US troops in the region, the Red Sea [and] other American assets.”

He also warned this could be the beginning of a long period of escalation. “I don’t think it’s one and done,” Phillips said.

1. They almost had a deal before Netanyahu declared war on Iran
2. There was no (imminent) threat, Iran at least years away from actually making a nuclear bomb and had no intention to according to reports.
3. US entered the war yet failed to hit the Uranium stockpile nor severely damaged Fardow.
4. Now there is imminent threat to US troops and interests.
5. Many other countries will now seek nuclear weapons, NPT has just been blown up by Trump and Netanyahu.
