And Iran is also 74 times the area of Israel, 3.7 times of Iraq, 9 times that of Syria, 164 times that of Lebanon.

If US/Israel bomb Iran enough for the regime to collapse, so much room for ISIS/ISIL and new groups to come to power... Turning Iran into another Syria would be a very big mistake.

Syria is also still a long way from progress. It's great Assad is gone but the fighting goes on, internally and with Israeli bombings. The West doesn't want Syria to succeed, a power vacuum in Iran would be no different. Factions in Iraq, Turkey, Afghanistan and Pakistan will all be making their moves on the borders.

But that's exactly what Netanyahu wants with his 'altering the power balance' in the ME. Make the whole region unstable and in perpetual civil war so Israel can do whatever it wants and chip away at the greater Israel Zionist ideal.

Say what you will about Tucker or Ted, and I have issues with both, but when the leftwing alternative is the screechfest we just saw on The View this week (complete with Whoopie's soft-padding of Iranian treatment of women), I'll take a gentlemanly attempt to persuade between a senator who is all hat but no cattle and a news host with some questionable friends any day of the week.

This is why the left is not winning anyone outside of their bubble:

Anytime someone who isn't far right is acting dumb: this is why people aren't joining the left.

Anytime the far right wing is lying, starting wars or being otherwise terrible: *crickets*

Alarm as White House Says Trump Has Not Ruled Out Dropping Nuclear Weapon on Iran

"An unnamed Trump administration official told Fox News senior White House correspondent Jaqui Heinrich that "none of the options are off the table," denying a Guardian report that said the president was "not considering using a tactical nuclear weapon" on Iran's heavily entrenched Fordow nuclear site."

I just saw this article, and frankly I could add it to my previous post.

Sometimes it feels like people think it would be better to do evil things with decorum than it would be to do good things with no decorum.

As if a man in a suit, calmly murdering someone is more reasonable than a pink haired lady screeching about how we have to save the planet

Sure I would prefer a calm person who wants to save the planet, but if those were the two choices - I'd side with the screeching pink haired lady over the psychotic murderer any of the day of the week. I'd say if you were more concerned about decorum, than doing the right thing, then you hold a bias that needs to be seriously evaluated.

US judge orders release of pro-Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil

A US judge has ordered that Columbia University graduate Mahmoud Khalil must be released from immigration custody, a major victory for rights groups that challenged what they called the Trump administration’s unlawful targeting of a pro-Palestinian activist.

Khalil, a prominent figure in pro-Palestinian protests against Israel’s war on Gaza, was arrested by immigration agents in the lobby of his university residence in Manhattan on March 8. President Donald Trump has called the protests anti-Semitic and promised to deport foreign students who took part.

Khalil condemned anti-Semitism and racism in interviews with CNN and other news outlets last year, and many observers say allegations of anti-Semitism are used against protesters in an attempt to shut down legitimate criticism of Israeli actions.

Khalil, a legal permanent resident of the United States, says he is being punished for his political speech in violation of the US Constitution’s First Amendment.

US ambassador accidentally says Israel ‘spreading terror’

US Representative to the United Nations, Dorothy Shea, made headlines after a striking verbal slip during a UN Security Council meeting. While delivering a statement aimed at Iran, Shea began by saying:

“Israel’s government has also spread chaos, terror, and suffering throughout the region…”

She paused awkwardly, then quickly corrected herself

Oops, told the truth there for a second.

‘My intelligence community is wrong’ on Iran’s nuclear programme, Trump says

US President Donald Trump has told reporters that his director of national intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, was wrong to suggest there is no evidence Iran is building a nuclear weapon.

“Well, my intelligence community is wrong,” he replied when asked by reporters about Gabbard’s position.

Trump also said that while he “might” support a ceasefire deal between Israel and Iran, “Israel’s doing well in terms of war, and I think you would say that Iran is doing less well”.

In response to another question, he said, “Europe is not going to be able to help” in the Israel-Iran conflict.

US director of national intelligence responds to Trump calling Iran assessment ‘wrong’

Tulsi Gabbard has responded to Trump’s claim that she was “wrong” when she told members of Congress in March that the US intelligence community assessed that Iran was not building a nuclear weapon.

In a post on X, Gabbard did not directly address Trump’s statement, but claimed that media reports were taking her statements to Congress “out of context and spreading fake news to manufacture division”.

However, Gabbard clearly stated during her testimony that “the IC (intelligence community) continues to assess that Iran is not building a nuclear weapon and Supreme Leader Khamanei has not authorised the nuclear weapons programme he suspended in 2003”.

In her post, Gabbard repeated the White House’s position that Iran could produce a nuclear weapon “within weeks to months”, although she did not make such a statement during her March testimony.

Gabbard, a former Democratic member of Congress, had railed against US military intervention abroad throughout her political career.

"The IC continues to assess that Iran is not building a nuclear weapon and Supreme leader Khomeini has not authorized the nuclear weapons program that he suspended in 2003. We continue to monitor closely if Tehran decides to reauthorize its nuclear weapons program."

She does say Iran's enriched Uranium stock pile is at its highest, but it takes a bit more than weeks to months to build a Nuclear bomb...

The development of the first atomic bombs, as part of the Manhattan Project, took approximately two to three years from the initial stages of research to the Trinity test and the subsequent use of the bombs in Japan. This involved a massive, collaborative effort across multiple sites and employed over 130,000 people.

See Oppenheimer.

Anyway Trump clearly told her to get back on script or else...

There's “no question” the US will be dragged into a regional war if it strikes Iran, former CIA director says

There is “no question” the United States would be plunged into a regional war if it strikes Iran, former CIA director Leon Panetta told CNN.

The former head of the intelligence agency said the US made a “terrible mistake” by going into Iraq two decades ago, starting a war that lasted years.

“It’s a lesson that the president needs to learn, because if he goes in and attacks Iran, then there’s no question that the United States would be in a regional war at that point,” Panetta told CNN’s Kaitlan Collins.

Panetta, also a former defense secretary, warned that Iran is bound to retaliate.

“So make no mistake about it. It may be an airstrike, but it would definitely involve the United States in a war with [Iran],” he said.

lol the U.S. isn’t the one getting dragged.

A US War with Iran will make Iraq look like a tea party. And that was a war based on lies, and where over a million Iraqis may have died in additions to thousands of US service members.
Iran has a much bigger population with more powerful weapons and organization. The Bush administration was also more cunning in building up propaganda to Iraq. If the Trump regime strikes soon, they will have not spent the time or cunning to match the insidious propaganda effort from Bush and co.
In the likely event the US enters a hot war with Iran, I see Trump's approval rating hitting 35% and as low as about the 25% or so who will never abandon him no matter what. I do not see a rally around the flag effect occurring where war helps his poll numbers.
