US judge orders release of Georgetown scholar jailed over Palestine

The Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) legal advocacy group says a federal judge in the US has ordered the immediate release of Badar Khan Suri.

Khan Suri, a postdoctoral scholar at Georgetown University, was arrested in March as part of President Trump’s push to deport non-citizens accused of fuelling “anti-Semitism” and “illegal protests” on US college campuses.

An Indian national, Khan Suri was in the US on an academic visa.

The judge’s order means that he “will finally go home to his wife and three children”, CCR said in a post on X, denouncing what it described as the Trump administration’s “attack on speech in support of Palestinian rights”.

Israel’s war on Gaza ‘permanent stain on world’s conscience’: US senator

US Senator Bernie Sanders has shared a video of the UN’s top humanitarian official speaking at the Security Council yesterday about the effects of Israel’s war on Gaza.

“This will be a permanent stain on the world’s conscience,” Sanders wrote on X.

Sanders put forward two Senate resolutions in early April seeking to suspend “offensive arms sales” from the US to Israel amid the Gaza war. The motions ultimately failed to pass.

“This war has been conducted almost entirely with American weapons and some $18 billion in US taxpayer dollars,” Sanders said in a statement at the time.

“The United States must not continue to supply endless amounts of military aid and weaponry to the Netanyahu government.”

Ben & Jerry’s cofounder removed from RFK Jr hearing for Gaza protest

Ben Cohen, one of the cofounders of the famed US ice cream company Ben & Jerry’s, was removed from a congressional committee hearing in Washington, DC, after he interrupted Health and Human Services Director Robert F Kennedy Jr.

Asked why he was being removed, Cohen said: “Congress kills poor kids in Gaza by buying bombs and pays for it by kicking kids off Medicaid in the US.”

The new ceasefire proposal was meant to start May 13th...Surprise Surprise...Putin rejected it and demanded "talks" with Ukraine instead (more delay tactics) and shockingly, the orange coward once again accepted Putin spitting in his face with a smile and told Ukraine to meet with Russia and once again made up excuses for Putin rejecting yet another ceasefire proposal supported by Donald Trump.

So once again we delay things because America's orange leader is either thick as shit and unable to see how much Putin is playing him, or he is terrified of Putin, for some reason Europe still thinks they can bring such a cowardly or stupid man over to their side, so we once again entertain Putin's delay tactic bullshit and say okay, lets meet, so Ukraine says fine, we'll meet, but we want to meet Putin, if Putin is serious about peace then Putin will show, so Ukraine sends Zelenskyy, the Head of State, to Türkiye along with other top ranking Ukrainians, who does Russia send? Two deputies, Putin's aide (who was responsible for the failed negotiations in 2022 and demanded Ukraine's total surrender) and a GRU (Military) dude responsible for poisoning people, people who have zero decision making power on behalf of Russia. Once again, Russia makes a very public troll of Donald Trump (and Europe too, Tbf) and once again, Putin very publicly spits in Trump's face and once again, Donald Trump happily accepts it.
