I'd like to see these huge crowds protesting in places like Oklahoma City, Fort Worth, Round Rock, Nashville, Columbia, SC, Jacksonville, and Naples, FL. Until that happens, the right will write it off as liberal cities crying.

The tariffs were based on trade deficits

This is fundamentally false.  Even the UK that has a surplus was smoked with a tariff.  Many countries were.  It's a scam.   Other countries don't have the wealth or population to match American spending.   So a trade deficit is more a show of American wealth they an attack from a foreign country. There are tariffs on contries where no humans. This is a scam on American consumers and businesses alike.  It's objectively apparent.

Correct.

The tariffs were based on the hurt feelings of a bunch of entitled piss-babies with persecution complexes.

Did Europe took any position about doing the retaliations or they are still holding themselves on their actions? Genuine question

The Trump worshippers in Hungary and Italy are probably slowing things down or trying to weaken the response, The EU is slow even at the most critical times due to the odd country or two fucking around, but I also suspect that EU is trying to figure out how to respond WITHOUT fucking over their own citizens too much, a concern which Trump doesn't have at all.

Can't expect more than mild retaliation from the EU anyway. As long as they don't bend the knee, it's good enough for this chaotic bunch that has a rule that allows Hungary to rule over everyone else.

Microsoft employee fears Israel is using her code to kill children in Gaza

A Microsoft employee who disrupted the company’s 50th-anniversary event in protest against the company’s sale of AI tools to the Israeli military has spoken out about her decision to demonstrate.

“We cannot be celebrating while people in Palestine are getting murdered thanks to Microsoft,” Ibtihal Aboussad told local media.

She said she may face consequences for her protest but that her “biggest concern right now” is knowing “that our code is contributing to bombing, surveillance and targeting of innocents”.

She added: “For me, my biggest fear is waking up for my 9-5 and realising that my code might be killing children today. That’s the concern that was more prevalent for me and that’s why I spoke despite knowing there may be consequences.

“The fear of contributing to the genocide in Gaza is greater for me.”

Thousands march to US’s ICE headquarters to protest student detentions

The protesters gathered at Pennsylvania Avenue, not far from the White House, and then they walked to the headquarters of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The reason they did so was because of the concerns over people who have been taken off the streets due to their opposition to what’s happening in Gaza. Those detained have been told their positions are not acceptable and that they may lose their Green Card or their visas to study here.

They include an Iranian student, who wrote an editorial in the college newspaper and found herself bundled into a van by plainclothes police officers and is now being held in detention.

A lot of these cases are going through the judicial system, but there’s clearly widespread concern that First Amendment protections – the right to free speech – are not being applied as they should be.

Idaho and Utah aren't necessarily left-liberal bastions.

There is a point where the far-right's perception doesn't matter anymore anyway. They make up 20% of the population at most.

Edit:

Jacksonville's protest.

Pyro as Bill said:

You're not paying the higher taxes, American companies are. If you retaliate then you'll pay more.

Retaliation means that we'll pay more for goods coming in from the USA which are either not relevant for the majority of people here or can be easily substituted with goods from a different country. Canada is just about the only country that has to be very careful about this, because their economy is much more intertwined with the USA than any other USA+X combination.

On the other hand, Americans will have to price higher prices for virtually everything because they have issued tariffs against virtually everyone, plus their own goods are often crap, hence why they buy so many foreign products.

In other words, countries who retaliate will have a much easier time to weather the storm than Trump and his USA can do. Hence why I am all for the EU to kick the USA's butt. Plus on a personal level, I don't buy any US goods to begin with, so there won't be any hardship on my end anyway.

US LNG and military hardware are gonna be replaced by who exactly?

Trump clearly isnt opposed to free trade if the tariffs are retaliatory. If Vietnam drops their tariffs then Trump will do likewise and the Switch 2 can be sold on the cheap.

It's good that the world is getting a lesson on what's really important.

Don't Play Stationary 4 ever. Switch!

Europe loves to moralise about how they offer better social protections even though the poorest man in America gets healthcare treatment Europeans could only dream of. When Europe is forced to pay for the real costs of defence and health without the US subsidising, maybe theyll be a bit more appreciative.
