I know I don't have much in the way to give you in discussion but as I'm neurodivergent I fear getting banned for saying the wrong thing much like I and many will fear getting sent to jail for saying or doing the wrong thing (or acting the "wrong way" which is seen as creepy and can cause offence) should these laws, against all common sense, be put on paper. Also, don't give me the, if you've nothing hateful to say you won't be jailed but when laws become ridiculously wishy washy like the site rules here and on many other sites that are volunteer moderated anything can be taken as hateful or the judge can rule against someone based on their emotion or political stance and get away with it Scott free. This is the first brick in our modern western society that if pulled will cause a whole heap of other bricks to come tumbling down on top of us, war or no war and in the cyber age it's probable and logical to think that we may never get these freedoms back as, like you said protests in the past have been violent but violent protests have proved to do absolutely nothing in the age we live in, in fact it they help with control and governmental manipulation as we saw in Hong Kong. Tag me when the gun turns around the other way, religious zeolets have gained control of EU countries and have these laws to work with and you, a poor atheist who has posted all your opinions online gets life in jail for not having the right opinions retroactively. |
"Anything that doesn't cause harm or lead to harm" - This rules out a lot of so called "free speech" so I agree with that. For example, if someone is spreading lies, that can lead to harm, like when Musk's Twitter spread lies which led to riots in the UK. Racism can lead to harm, Russian propaganda can lead to harm, etc. So those sorts of "free speech" absolutely should be restricted.
I'm not a big fan of the press lately, a lot of the press in the West seem to believe their job is only to be a megaphone for politicians bullshit, it used to be that the press were there because they had a responsibility to the public, they were there to present the actual facts of the situation and hold politicians to account, not simply allow anyone to spew any bullshit and not correct it.
Someone saying something out of emotion, is entirely context dependent and depends entirely on what they actually say, thus I can't really make a blanket comment. Likewise, neurodivergence is a very, very broad brush, it's very context dependent but generally, folk can't go around being assholes and then saying "Sorry, I'm neurodivergent" as an excuse for being an asshole. In fact, it's probably more insulting to many neurodivergent people when someone uses their neurodivergence as an excuse like that.
I think you're worrying over nothing, I don't know what this "wrong thing" is, I don't know what this jail fear is for "saying or doing the wrong thing" or "acting the wrong way" and I don't even know what these laws are that you're talking about. Your comments are incredibly vague. These apparent wishy washy site rules have resulted in you being moderated twice during your entire time here, Lol.

Don't worry, we're already fighting back against the religious Zealots that America is exporting to the UK. The same ones trying to attack folk for receiving abortions. I'm not really a major fan of organised religion to begin with, they all have large examples of being used for oppression and control, including Christianity, America currently has a large portion of Christian Fascists and Russia uses Christianity to support their Nazism.
But in many European countries, Atheism or "No-Religion" is quickly becoming the largest share.
It's also funny, because many of America's closest allies are some of the biggest abusers of restricting speech, human rights, etc. Got old bone saw in Saudi Arabia chopping up journalists for being critical. Try criticising Israel as an American politician as well, it's almost career ending to do so, Lol. Especially on the side of Republicans, all because of religious nonsense.
