The "Management" topic feels like a non-story/common sense.

Mike asks "do you think management is happy with the state of Xbox right now?" and Jeff says "I can tell you, they are not" Okay. Don't know what I'm meant to do with that. Is he speculating or is it something he has actually heard from those in management positions? What management is he talking about? Is it XGS (Matt Booty)? Is it MS Gaming (Phil Spencer)? Is it Microsoft (Satya Nadella)? Depending on who is unhappy massively changes things.

If Matt is unhappy then it's a "no shit", Lol. Who would be happy with their 2022 line-up and zero AAA exclusives for 16 months? I wouldn't be if I was running Xbox. What am I meant to do with that information? I'd be more worried if they weren't unhappy because that would imply they have their heads in the sand and aren't looking to improve.

If Phil is unhappy then some peoples jobs could be on the line. Which is why context changes massively depending on which management is unhappy. If Satya is unhappy for example, it could mean bad things for Xbox and lead to negative stuff such as budget cuts, crunching, etc. But Grubb also says that... "Commentary regarding any dissatisfaction with Xbox is more to acknowledge and diagnose issues it has because they matter."

Okaaaay. So...Management is diagnosing "issues" so they can fix them, literally the purpose of management, literally what every single company in the world does. They seek out issues to optimise performance. If Microsoft is looking at Xbox more closely to fix issues then that's a good thing? Lol. Xbox marketing certainly needs a massive revamp for starters.

We don't know who is unhappy though, might not even be Satya/Phil/Booty but someone in lower management, Lol. Nobody here is doing it but I see others freaking out about this comment and I'm like, why? Why would you freak out over management being unhappy with their 2022 performance? That's actually a good thing, they should be unhappy, they should want to improve which is what Grubb is saying they're trying to do.

Management would be bad at their jobs if they weren't unhappy after 2022...

My boi Ryuu making me feel a little better after analyzing Scrubbs poss. The hi fi rush comments make zero sense as what Angelus and Ryuu stated. Jeff Grubbs is the Dave Meltzer of Xbox reporting

Management, as Ryuu said is another issue as it depends on who is upset. For the love of Jaysus... we need a fucking W lmao. They better come hard in June... Oh my lorre...

Oh look another F'ing L...

Wonder if this means they out for good on the main show. "Japanese games are important to us..."

Do yall think Xbox management should start addressing these rumors? Like the one with Hifi, etc? Does keeping silent actually help, even if they said it wasn't true would people even believe them? Might be a lose lose situation. :/

Seriously...Based on his management comment, who can be upset about that? Isn't it their whole job to diagnose issues and fix them? Who the hell would be happy as a manager looking at their 2022 line-up? Would any of us? I wouldn't, Lol.

Some are really "fuck Xbox" no matter what.

Fanboy: XBOX SUCKS

Xbox: Yeah, our 2022 was bad, we're unhappy with that and are trying to find our issues and fix them.

Fanboy: LOL, XBOX ADMITTED THEY SUCK. XBOX SUCKS.

Just curious, has Xbox ever been a sponsor? Their TGS last year was pretty good but I can't remember if they were an official sponsor.

Also it's for "Indie Games" which I would say they should still sponsor but it doesn't really mean anything in relation to publishers.

Them not sponsoring doesn't mean they won't be at the event either.

They can't.

Best they can do is release financial data but it would be pretty obviously in response to the rumour.

The reason they don't comment on rumours is because if you comment on one rumour then you have to comment on all rumours which makes it easier to guess which rumour is true and which is false, also in the case of something like a game leak being inaccurate, you can accidentally confirm the game is real even if the details aren't.

I've seen a few Xbox employees lately comment on rumours in a upset manner only to instantly delete their response, Microsoft PR came down hard. They'll likely only comment on rumours if it hurts their stock price which then becomes a "real shit" situation, Hi-Fi Rush won't do that, this being out there doesn't really change a thing for Microsoft internally whether it's accurate or not.

Although it might feel shit if you're John Johanas who has been gushing over how happy he is about the games performance.

I’d honestly be shocked if upper MS management actually gave a damn about a AA exclusive that had absolutely no marketing, all while going through the ups and down of a regulatory process on a $70 billion deal 😂

Right...

Doubt Microsoft Management even fucking know what Hi-Fi Rush is

If it's Xbox then it contradicts Game Pass.

It could be Bethesda who aren't happy...Maybe they haven't yet changed their thinking to a Game Pass one.

But what sort of expectations would they have? Seriously? Like I said.

  • Niche
  • Small Team
  • Zero Marketing.
  • Shadow-Drop in a Sub Service.
  • AA
  • Lesser Known Studio.

What were they expecting if true?!?!

I don't think Microsoft really cares about Hi-Fi Rush when they're about to get CoD under their belt...Heck it has felt like the entire Xbox division has been on autopilot lately due to the ABK deal, like not doing anything about the Console situation, or making any major waves which they could if they really wanted to.

I was right, Microsoft didn't sponsor 2022 either, I don't think they sponsored any year.

Sony Interactive Entertainment, Nintendo, Kodansha Game Creators Lab, iGi indie Game incubator, and Elsa Japan have been selected as sponsors (*) to support the exhibition of indie game developers such as this selection exhibition. (in order of application reception).
