We better get ReCore 2 out of this at least, Staten wrote it. Him being back with 2nd party publishing gives me some hope.

Almost had a heart attack but this doesn't seem like a good thing for 343.

Pierre is still there and doing a brilliant job though...Can hope that Joe just passed his responsibilities onto Pierre because he wants to work at XGP again.

343 is doomed without Joe Staten at the helm, I can't see anyone except him righting that ship.

Not saying it's a good thing but Pierre IS brilliant, already seeing some great stuff for Infinite under him and he was only on the job a few months, such as refocusing efforts to get Custom Games Browser out 3 months early. Plus the dude literally saved Halo TMCC and turned it around into the incredible collection it is today which is way more than they ever promised.

He seems like a huge fan of Halo, wanting to expand it out into other genres and comes across really well in all his interviews. It definitely feels like a setback that Joe has left but Pierre was above Joe the last 6 months and that has really been around Infinite's turnaround, I'd say give him a shot, I'm not dooming yet because he's brilliant.

My optimistic reading would be that Joe has decided his role is done now and passed his stuff onto Pierre, Joe was neither "Campaign Lead" or "Multiplayer Lead" but "Head of Creative" so I think Pierre could probably fill that or the role has been removed. Pierre is also proven to be better than Joe at live-service as well but losing Joe is a blow to Campaign as Joe has a very brilliant understanding of Halo's story and tone.

Hopefully Joe simply wanted to return to XGSP because he enjoys it more, it was where he was before, I imagine an appeal would be the more laid back and less stressful environment since you're mostly assisting other writers, plus the opportunity to work on multiple IPs and genres instead of being stuck to one IP.

That's an issue with some titles, they need what is called a "champion" to convince the higher ups to bring it back, Adam was that for Killer Instinct IIRC and Shannon was the last ReCore advocate but she left. Joe is credited on Flight Simulator, Tell Me Why, Age of Empires II DE, Crackdown 3, State of Decay 2, Sunset Overdrive, Super Lucky's Tale, Zoo Tycoon, Quantum Break, ReCore, Lol.

The less optimistic reading would be that Infinite's Campaign team has been gutted (it does look like most layoffs are on the Campaign team) but they didn't want to let go off Joe so they convinced him back to XGSP. In that scenario, it's likely that Infinite's Campaign expansion has been scrapped and they're instead doubling down on the Multiplayer, as a result Halo Campaign will be on ice for a while, likely no Campaign expansions for Infinite and no new Halo story until they release the next Halo title (10 year plan is likely scrapped at this point).

Looks like this reading was correct.

Definitely looks like Infinite's Campaign expansion has been axed...Halo is going to be on ice for a while for anyone who cares about the Campaign...Me.

Looks like they're doubling down on MP and we won't get a new Halo story until the next mainline Halo title, sigh, Lol.

This 10 year plan was terrible in hindsight. Support Halo Infinite's MP in the meantime but I think they should take another shot at revamping the engine (didn't work out first time around for Bungie either) and try again under Pierre's leadership then release a full fledged Halo story instead of an expansion then move on from Infinite.

Please don't reboot the fucking story again.

Man this is so sad, I might need a break, Lol.

Loved Infinite's Campaign too.

Seeing people use the firings as fuel to console wars is one of the most pathetic things I've seen on this website. smh.

It's disgusting and it's likely to backfire considering the entire tech industry has laid off over 200,000 people the last year, things are going to get a lot worse before they get better and shareholders always come first in recessions. Be mad at the systematic structure of the world. Using peoples lives in your console wars makes you one sad motherfucker.
