Almost had a heart attack but this doesn't seem like a good thing for 343.

Pierre is still there and doing a brilliant job though...Can hope that Joe just passed his responsibilities onto Pierre because he wants to work at XGP again.

343 is doomed without Joe Staten at the helm, I can't see anyone except him righting that ship.

Not saying it's a good thing but Pierre IS brilliant, already seeing some great stuff for Infinite under him and he was only on the job a few months, such as refocusing efforts to get Custom Games Browser out 3 months early. Plus the dude literally saved Halo TMCC and turned it around into the incredible collection it is today which is way more than they ever promised.

He seems like a huge fan of Halo, wanting to expand it out into other genres and comes across really well in all his interviews. It definitely feels like a setback that Joe has left but Pierre was above Joe the last 6 months and that has really been around Infinite's turnaround, I'd say give him a shot, I'm not dooming yet because he's brilliant.

My optimistic reading would be that Joe has decided his role is done now and passed his stuff onto Pierre, Joe was neither "Campaign Lead" or "Multiplayer Lead" but "Head of Creative" so I think Pierre could probably fill that or the role has been removed. Pierre is also proven to be better than Joe at live-service as well but losing Joe is a blow to Campaign as Joe has a very brilliant understanding of Halo's story and tone.

Hopefully Joe simply wanted to return to XGSP because he enjoys it more, it was where he was before, I imagine an appeal would be the more laid back and less stressful environment since you're mostly assisting other writers, plus the opportunity to work on multiple IPs and genres instead of being stuck to one IP.
