Asha should be careful with her wording. Especially if they're still trying to sort things out for next-gen hardware. Saying she wants to give players a choice can imply that physical media will remain.

Matches earlier leaks that said they were considering keeping the disc drive option next gen. I think they should, the benefits outweigh the costs, they help keep retail alive and get considerable shelf space at retail compared to Playstation, they provide an option to their own fans, they win over however many disaffected PlayStation fans there are from Sony's decision. Imo all of that outweighs the cost of the disc manufacturing and logistics of shipping out physical to retailers, especially since they can just pull a Nintendo and charge $10 more for physical to cover those costs, and sell digital only consoles again to help cut console costs for the price conscious.
