I never played Oblivion or any ES game so this will be my first. I couldn't get into Bethesda games for a long time. Something about the gameplay always turned me off. This seems like a good starting point.

It's steam deck verified which is great news for me. But it's an UE5 game and it says a GTX 1070 Ti minimum and the Steam Deck doesn't even match a 1050 Ti.
Guess I'll wait for someone to test it on the deck lol.

It probably is. Morrowind was a moderate success, but Oblivion is what put Bethesda Game Studios on the map!

You called down the thunder, now reap the whirlwind
$49.99 for a full remake is generous! Really showing up certain other companies awful pricing.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was the US' best-selling game of its March 06 launch month (2nd was Kingdom Hearts II) and finished the year at 11th ($).
It ranks 4th in lifetime US $ sales for Bethesda made games behind only Skyrim, and Fallouts 4 & 3.

It doesn’t get talked about all that much anymore but I think it’s probably hard to overstate the impact Oblivion had on the early days of the Xbox 360. I’d guess that its success also really changed things for Bethesda as a company, too.

With both original expansions included! Shivering Isles is still up there in at least top 5 DLCs ever made.
Looks like there's some new quests tied to the $10 upgrade, which is a bummer, but something I can gloss over since it's brand new content.

If it's anything like the Skyrim:AE additional quests I won't be bothered missing it. There were quests in that which just threw incredibly valuable loot at you and ruined the progression lol.
