Finished 3. chapter of South of Midnight now. I really like the game and that song playing around the end of the chapter in combination of the story unfolding gave me chills.

Gameplay could be little bit better and I had to restart once because I clipped into the ground and couldn't move anymore but the rest is great.

I really hope they will be allowed to keep working on games like this. They just need some in the team to be able to deliver more in the gameplay department and their next game could be a real banger

That happened to me as well, Lol.

But yeah, Compulsion needs to take their gameplay to the next level and we'd be looking at something really special, if they had a more interesting unique and fluid combat/platforming then we could have been looking at a 85+ average easy, I'm on Chapter 10 and I still don't even think it's bad, it's just nothing special and could do with more fluidity, fun factor. Game isn't difficult though on normal and I've rarely failed any of the platforming sections, I only died once on a chase sequence but that was because of my own stupidity, Lol.

So far, “Minecraft” has generated a massive $550.6 million globally including $269.6 million at the international box office and $281 million domestically. It’s already the highest grossing film of the year ahead of Disney and Marvel’s “Captain America: Brave New World” ($213 million internationally, $410 million globally after nine weeks on the big screen).

Over the weekend, “A Minecraft Movie” added another $79.6 million from 76 international markets, declining 45% from its overseas debut. Top territories include the United Kingdom ($39.8 million), China ($20.3 million), Germany ($18.9 million) and Mexico ($18.7 million).

‘A Minecraft Movie’ Hits $550 Million Globally

During the sophomore session, the Warner Bros/Legendary hit added $79.6M from 76 international box office markets for a -42% hold excluding China. Despite the current geopolitical discord, the movie was No. 1 in that market on both Saturday and Sunday, and is in a tight race with a local title for the weekend win.

Overall overseas, the Jason Momoa/Jack Black-starrer is tracking strongly above comps in like-for-like markets at today’s rates. Examples include Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (+229%), Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (+76%), Sonic 3 (+75%), Pokemon: Detective Pikachu (+71%), Kung Fu Panda 4 (+61%) and Jumanji: The Next Level (+40%).

The Top 5 markets so far are the UK ($39.8M), China ($20.3M), Germany ($18.9M), Mexico ($18.7M) and Australia ($18.5M). Kids holidays are up and running in many offshore markets and will continue through Easter, boding well for midweek play. Japan and Korea are also still to release, at the end of the month.

A Minecraft Movie Crosses $550 Million Global Box Office

IIRC 42%-45% decline is in line with the average decline so that should point towards a strong performance, especially given its huge opening weekend and its B+ Cinemascore (A with Under 18s). This looks very much on track for $1bn. The legs are steady in the 2nd weekend. Also, I didn't realise it still hasn't released in Japan and South Korea, those should provide a little extra boost.

Stats So Far...

  • Warner Bros 24th Highest Grossing Film (Domestically)
  • Warner Bros 34th Highest Grossing Film (Worldwide)
  • 2nd Highest Grossing Video Game Adaptation
  • Original Expectations Was For 60M Domestic and 130M Global Opening Weekend

Minecraft is very popular in Japan. Not as popular as Mario I'm sure but just as a reference, Mario did $100m in Japan Box Office. Minecraft won't do that obviously but still likely has a few dozen million from Japan to come on top of whatever its final is between America + International.

Someone should nuke Phil's house again in Fallout for not skeeting enough about Xbox games on Bluesky.

Lol, well I guess that can be construed from the ad.  The term rat race probably isn't something used that much in today's generation so the reference may have missed a lot of people. In advertisement, you can say that making sure the audience you are trying to communicate to understand the references you are trying to convey so that its not easily seen as something totally different than what you want to convey.

Than again, the ad seem to be targeting the 20 to 30 crowd since the person shown I would say is around that age so the reference probably is something they would know.  If it was structured for young adults/ teens, I would say it was really missing the mark.

I forgot the term even existed.  But to escape the rat race why cannot I not play PS5 or Switch? What makes Xbox the one to break the cycle? I think you need to say why your product is special.

The thing about advertisement is to connect with an audience not necessarily to covey any real context.  Meaning that the connection for this ad is just that your xbox can make you feel better about coming home after your days work.  Notice how in the ad, going to work the rat looks depressed but coming home he has a determined step and appears he cannot wait to get home.  That is the message and feeling the ad appear to me it's trying to convey and you really do not have to dilute the message but instead keep it focused.  This ad is more targeted on a feeling more than trying to convince you any particular game is going to make you feel this way because games are so subjective when it comes to which ones appeal to which audience.

Also this is probably going to be a series of ads not just this one.  Whether it connects or not well, its hard to tell.

Forza Horizon 5 and Indiana Jones are dominating PlayStation Pre-Order Charts, Lol.

US

  • #1 Indiana Jones Premium Edition ($100)
  • #2 Forza Horizon 5 Premium Edition ($100)
  • #3 Indiana Jones Standard Edition ($70)
  • #4 Forza Horizon 5 Standard Edition ($60)

Same order in Canada.

UK is #1 FH5 Premium > #2 Indiana Jones Standard > #3 Indiana Jones Premium > #4 FH5 Standard.

Germany is same as UK except swap #2 and #3.

France is #1 FH5 Premium > #2 FH5 Standard > #4 Indiana Jones Standard > #6 Indiana Jones Premium.

Italy is #2 FH5 Premium > #4 FH5 Standard > #5 Indiana Jones Standard > #6 Indiana Jones Premium.

Spain is #2 FH5 Premium > #3 FH5 Standard > #5 Indiana Jones Standard > #6 Indiana Jones Premium.

All those Premiums...Xbox is going to have a huge Q4.
