Lol, well I guess that can be construed from the ad.  The term rat race probably isn't something used that much in today's generation so the reference may have missed a lot of people. In advertisement, you can say that making sure the audience you are trying to communicate to understand the references you are trying to convey so that its not easily seen as something totally different than what you want to convey.

Than again, the ad seem to be targeting the 20 to 30 crowd since the person shown I would say is around that age so the reference probably is something they would know.  If it was structured for young adults/ teens, I would say it was really missing the mark.

I forgot the term even existed.  But to escape the rat race why cannot I not play PS5 or Switch? What makes Xbox the one to break the cycle? I think you need to say why your product is special.

The thing about advertisement is to connect with an audience not necessarily to covey any real context.  Meaning that the connection for this ad is just that your xbox can make you feel better about coming home after your days work.  Notice how in the ad, going to work the rat looks depressed but coming home he has a determined step and appears he cannot wait to get home.  That is the message and feeling the ad appear to me it's trying to convey and you really do not have to dilute the message but instead keep it focused.  This ad is more targeted on a feeling more than trying to convince you any particular game is going to make you feel this way because games are so subjective when it comes to which ones appeal to which audience.

Also this is probably going to be a series of ads not just this one.  Whether it connects or not well, its hard to tell.
