Anyone else hyped for Metal Eden next month or just me because I loved Ruiner? Yes I am also excited for Doom. Metal Eden looks like Cyberpunk Doom and I LOVE Cyberpunk.

Yes, I absolutely am! I thought it was a multiplayer title, but when I saw it was a narrative FPS, I was immediately in.

‘A Minecraft Movie’ Smashes Records At UK-Ireland Box Office With £15m Opening
MONDAY AM UPDATE…Warner Bros/Legendary‘s A Minecraft Movie is no sheep at the box office. Who the hell saw this coming? The opening in U.S./Canada of $163M beats that of Barbie ($162M)! Yes, tracking pegged this at $65M, and then toward the end of last week we heard projections of $75M-$80M. What went on here? How did tracking miss? A last minute push by Warner Bros I’m told in response to the social media heat.
For Jack Black — it’s his biggest opening at the U.S./Canada box office ahead of Illumination/Nintendo/Universal’s Super Mario Bros Movie ($146.3M). For Jason Momoa, it’s second after Batman v. Superman, but his best as a lead character ahead of Justice League ($94M).
For Warners, Minecraft is third biggest opening of all-time after 2011’s Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 ($169M) and 2016’s Batman v Superman ($166M). Leg-out factor here: Barbie at the domestic B.O. (and global) is Warner’s highest grossing title ever at $636.2M. Their second highest grossing movie is Dark Knight at $534.9M. Batman v Superman reached $330M. Death Hallows Part 2 ended its run at $381.4M. We’ll see how long this Rocky Horror Picture Show-like audience participation Minecraft phenom continues for the under 25 set.
Sunday came in at $46.3M (-22% from Saturday). This isn’t just some stateside phenomenon, rather a sensation around the globe, the Jared Hess directed movie coming in at $313.7M.
Again, big applause here for Warner Bros in putting moviegoing back on track. Also, big pats on the back all around at the Burbank, CA studio which has been notoriously financially strapped under the David Zaslav administration, shares now at $8.19 as of this report for the $20 billion cap entertainment conglomerate.
Alright. Zaslav will be announcing Minecraft 2 by the end of this month at this rate.
How much juice did Paramount squeeze out of Jim Carrey and those Sonic movies weren't nearly this successful.
They're about to chain Jack Black in a dungeon to make nothing but Minecraft movies until he dies.
Nice for Minecraft I suppose that it's a smash hit...terrible for video game movies going forward. Hollywood about to learn all the wrong lessons again, phone up various publishers about various IP, and make the most cringe fucking movies imaginable out of beloved games, because hey...it worked for Minecraft. Yay...

Lol. It's Minecraft. It's not that serious. Yeah, Minecraft is a massive IP but it's not a serious IP with deep lore or any storytelling, its spinoffs too are completely non-serious and like half of its fanbase is children, if not more. Minecraft Movie isn't the first kid focused videogame adaptation to do well, and by all accounts kids loved both them films and Minecraft.
Not sure why we need to doom the entire industry because a kid focused movie of a child friendly videogame did well. Switch your mind off and have some fun, stop over-analysing everything and taking everything so seriously. The videogame to film adaptation industry isn't doomed because of one film, a Fortnite film will be next and that too will obviously be full with memes.
But, a Doom film, for example, is not going to suddenly have the floss dance in it and Jack Black as the Main Character because Minecraft did well. Lol. Chill out! Let the kids have some fun! Maybe you too will enjoy it, I don't even think the general opinion is that it's a terrible film, the main criticism is around it being bland but even I see a lot of adults saying they had fun with the jokes in it.
And just remember all the films that you liked as a kid that would have an adult talking about them like you are now
Modern Warfare 2 (presumably the original not the 2022 title) has been rated for PS5 and with online interactivity unlike the previous MW2 remaster that was campaign only. Probably coming to all platforms, maybe even Switch 2 as well.
