No game should be for everyone. What's important is that Kingdom Come is at least aimed at the audience that pays for it's development.

Who would you even recommend it to?

Obsidian fans/RPG fans/PoE lore fans.

I know my group of friends that I've known since middle school, we're all playing Avowed, and we know a thing or two about Obsidian games as we've played all their games since KOTOR 2, and no one is disappointed by Avowed. We're having fun! Is it Obsidian's best work? No, I wouldn't say so, but the last thing we would describe any aspect of this game would be bad. It's all incredibly engaging and fun to experience the story unfold, and all the callbacks and references to PoE have been great to have for longtime diehards.

Very few Obsidian fans so far are complaining about Avowed.

I would definitely not personally. Definitely not for it's launch price of $70. Did you like it that much?

You are right, It is a fact that I agree with you on, a lot of people are saying try Avowed on gamepass while those same reviewers are not saying try Kingdom come Deliverance II on gamepass but it is kind of similar....going trough the commetns on Steam/Youtube/tiktok/Pinksky or whatever plenty will say Kingdom Deliverance II is not for everyone and try it for you buy it.  'Combat can be a pain'  'game is very slow' 'can feel very Intimidating' comments are not rare..

Gameranx from the before you buy literally used the phrase 'Yes it is not for everyone'

Who is Avowed for? People that are Game Pass lifers and will try everything available on the sub if it's notable enough? How many people would recommend outright buying the game if it wasn't on Game Pass? Who would you even recommend it to?

Obsidian fans, Pillars of Eternity fans, RPG fans.

If it wasn't on Game Pass, I imagine most Obsidian fans would still recommend it, Obsidian has a hardcore fanbase that has been around for years, it has never been a huge amount but they are beloved and Obsidian fans tend to like Obsidian RPGs. I absolutely would recommend it as a fan of RPGs first, a fan of Obsidian second. I've seen Obsidian fans recommend Tyranny a lot and that has a lower critic score than Avowed!

Love the Tyranny callout!

What's so hard about leaving your thoughts on a game without it becoming a commentary about why your opinion is the correct one. It's maddening.

The game is not going to do well despite what kind of player count numbers they use to try and hide it. That has nothing to do with my opinion, the writing is on the wall. You can choose to not see it or stubbornly disagree with me, that's your perogative. But that has nothing to do with my opinion on the game.

The fact that Veilguard and Avowed have dragged down the quality of once beloved RPG franchises, that Fable could easily be following in their footsteps is what concerns me on a personal level.

The game is not going to do well you claim with 1 week of data, where it is in fact, actually doing pretty well, Lol.

What beloved franchise did Avowed drag down? What are you even talking about?! Lmao. Are you saying Avowed dragged down the Pillars of Eternity IP? Which is a completely different genre? In a different setting? Seems like from what I'm seeing Pillars fans are mostly happy and Avowed will be far more mainstream than Pillars ever was.

Fable will be Fable. It better damn well be Fable. And not try to chase after being anything else.

Avowed has absolutely nothing to do with Fable though, Lol.

If Xbox fans aren't even willing to acknowledge when they've gone wrong, how will they ever acknowledge it?

Dont' you think it sounds a bit silly =p?

Every game has hate or haters, especially when new iterations of a franchise release you will see hate but what you are saying is....
' Hey You!!'  'how dare you enjoy it, don't you see you are wrong???'  This is literally happening right now,  Some Yakuza fans are dislinking how Yakuza is going in this weird direction with pirates, others hated the RPG Yakuza games.....

I love it 😎

I was actually one of those who disliked the turn-based idea...Until I played it then I loved it, Lol.

But yes there's Yakuza fans who are still divided.

There's nothing wrong with enjoying it for what it is. But you can also admit when it's not good enough for how long people have waited, how high the expectations originally were or what people originally wanted it to be. Those things aren't mutually exclusive.

I'm not telling people to hate the game. Only why it's not going to do well and why we should be concerned about other similar franchises. Why shouldn't that be talked about?

Personally the only thing I ever saw people wishing it to be was an Elder Scrolls holdover game while Bethesda continues to take their sweet time making TES 6. Obsidian themselves shot down those expectations pretty early in development, making it clear to anyone expecting Avowed to be to Skyrim what Fallout NV was to Fallout 3, that that wasn't going to happen, that they were making a smaller RPG with a much smaller dev team than modern AAA's usually have, which would differentiate itself from Skyrim instead of trying to be Skyrim 2.0.

The reason development took so long was not because they were spending time making some very high end AAA masterpiece, the reason for the long dev cycle (2018-2025) was that the game was rebooted in like late 2020 or early 2021, where the director changed from Chris Parker (Alpha Protocol, South Park TSoT) to Carrie Patel (director of The Outer Worlds DLC's), and the darker gritty tone that the initial reveal teased gave way to a more colorful take on the game. If people were expecting some high end AAA masterpiece due to the long development cycle I'm sure they are disappointed in the final product, but I personally knew about the reboot on the game from a Jason Schreier leak since 2022, so I was expecting what we got, a game with only around 4 years of development post reboot with a small 100ish person dev team.

Talking about PoE, if you haven’t played it you definitely should. PoE 2 has fantastic writing and narration. Maybe a little weaker on the gameplay front than PoE 1 coz too much water but still 100% worth anybody’s time.
