That Gears remaster rumour just won't die, Lol. I refuse to play Gears UE unless Gears 2/3 are remastered though. If I'm going to play the series again I want to do it all updated. Though I wonder if the rumours about Gears E-Day in 25 and Gears Remaster in 25 are maybe being confused? Maybe someone hears Gears is releasing in 2025 and confuses it with Gears E-Day when it's actually only Gears Remaster, Idk. There's no way there's a Gears Remaster and Gears E-Day in the same year, Xbox would need to chill the fuck out, Lol.

Not gonna lie, I think this was a great direct but I feel  dissapointed with no FF stuff (I blame you Basil) even been saving MS reward points to buy it instantly XD.

Yeah a Gears remaster and E day would be overkill, would be like a Ninja Gaiden remaster and new Ninja Gaiden game in the same year.....

Anyway with the gears remaster they also could use it as a way to beta test E-Day's multiplayer.

Difference between Ninja Gaiden and Gears.

1. Ninja Gaiden Remaster and Ninja Gaiden 4 will release almost a full year apart (Jan vs Sep at the earliest) while Gears Remaster would be June at the earliest from the sounds of things. Don't really need them both in 25 with such a stacked line-up but it's possible.

2. Ninja Gaiden is SP only, Gears has a heavy focus on MP, by releasing Gears 1-3 Remaster and Gears E-Day you'd be splitting the MP fanbase across multiple titles in the same year and thus weakening the player pool.

Makes more sense if one of them doesn't have MP, either E-Day is SP only or Gears Remaster launches without MP.

Yeah I also don't expect a gears remaster/collection , the gears community don't believe in 25 we are hoping tho..

Middling IP, coming off a terrible movie (imo), people were disappointed it wasn't an Uncharted/Tomb Raider clone from the start, and is closer associated to Immersive Sims like Dishonored and Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, yeah this game was and will never reach the heights of other major licensed IPs like Spider-Man, but it still is undeniably doing as Mat says "pretty good." Which is probably already better than Wolfenstein 2 and New Blood performed lol

Wolfenstein 2 didn't actually do bad at all, while it's US NPD 1st month performance wasn't stellar (14th place), it did release with only 4 days left in the month and it was a crowded month that featured games like Middle-Earth: Shadow of War, Forza Motorsport 7, Assassin's Creed Origins, Mario Odyssey, The Evil Within 2 (yes Bethesda decided to release 2 of their games only like 2 weeks apart), Gran Turismo Sport, and South Park The Fractured But Whole, 2 of which released the same day as it, Assassin's Creed and Mario Odyssey. It did significantly better outside of the US, 4th place UK, 4th place Australia, 5th place New Zealand, 4th place Switzerland, 5th place France I believe.

Youngblood on the other hand flopped hard, and was likely what killed their plans for Wolfenstein 3. Failed to make top 20 on NPD in it's launch month (July, a not at all busy month for video games) compared to 14th in busy October for Wolfenstein 2. It did make #2 on UK and a few other countries charts 1st week, but a #2 in July is often nowhere near as good as 4th or 5th place in busy October, and it also had no legs, falling off the top 10 in those countries almost immediately after launch.

But yeah, I can't say I'm shocked by Indy's sales being only so-so. I didn't see much marketing for it personally, it's missing on PS5 which is of course the biggest platform right now for most games, the Indy franchise has lost alot of popularity over time as showcased by Indy 5 flopping at the box office (failing to even make back it's budget). It's also 1st person, which was a turnoff for many who either have motion sickness issues or simply wanted a 3rd person Uncharted/Tomb Raider-like AAA Indy game.

I think with Xbox's multiplatform approach we're going to actually see more things like Ninja Gaiden 4 in the sense that it was a surprise publishing announcement that may not have happened if it was exclusive to Xbox, I know people didn't believe Xbox would do anything in Japan but I imagine this opens their doors up even more to Japanese developers who want to release on PS too. Few years ago there were Linkedin posts which did say XGSP were working with Japanese developers, Ninja Gaiden 4 is one of those but it probably isn't the only one.

I can see that being the case. We also do have OD with Kojima Productions. Will be interesting to see what other Japanese games end up being released that may not have otherwise been made, whether that be new risky IPs or return of older IPs.

Heck with PS5, you can get a lot more attention from Japanese devs if you can put games on Switch 2.

Switch: SW-3707-5131-3911
XBox: Kenjabish

I wonder if the whole "Game Pass will birth bad games" narrative will finally die now?
