Paying more to play "early" is an industry standard for many publishers now. You once again complain about MS which isn't a MS thing.

I also don't like this but yeah, complain about the industry and not MS alone.

It's also pretty normal to see increasing prices. Have you seen Netflix, Amazon Prime or how expensive your eggs in the supermarket are nowadays?

So yes, none of that is nice but it's also nothing you have to isolate MS with your criticism.

That's Just how it works. Reduce your staff, reduce your costs as much as possible and squeeze as much as possible out of your customer. Your investors don't accept anything else nowadays.

Well MS was one of the ones who did it early not sure if Sony or Nintendo do it with their games.

Like you said it is not nice and the meme should be 'This is not DAY 1 on gamepass with Indy/Avowed special editions posted under it'

It is a false narrative to say that the day a game's releasedate is not day 1 but 'early'.

But the games release day one on Gamepass. Not the "pay more to play early" editions but you can also not play them if you buy the standard edition. You obviously won't get the game in Gamepass days before the standard 70€ version releases.

So you shouldn't complain about Gamepass versions releasing too late but about the early versions but even then, you can just wait a few days. The game doesn't run away from you. It sucks that companies use the "weakness" of some people who can't wait to squeeze more money out of them but in the end it won't hurt you.

Popping in to say that this week has been great for Xbox, I'm liking the positive momentum lately.

  • Monday - Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Gameplay Deep Dive, Overwatch Classic.
  • Tuesday - South of Midnight Documentary, Spyro Reignited Trilogy in Game Pass, Black Ops 6 and Warzone Season 1, Towerborne Update 2.
  • Wednesday - Warcraft Battle Chest Announced, WoW Classic 20th Anniversary Edition, WoW Roadmap, ESO Update 44 on Xbox (Battlegrounds Revamp and New Companions).
  • Thursday - Atomfall Release Date (Day One Game Pass), Xbox November Update, Avowed Premium Edition and Trailer, Age of Empires II: Battle for Greece, Ara History Untold Update 1.1
  • Friday - Black Friday Deals.

Could have brought back X0 with all of this stuff and have a nice little 30-40 minute celebration, though I suppose it's safer to split it up because if they did a little stream you'd have the permanently bitter users moaning about how there was no megaton new announcements at the event because there's no such thing as being allowed a nice smaller event. They could have easily added in a Flight Simulator 2024 launch trailer and Stalker 2 launch trailer as well considering how close to release they both are, I assume they'll be released next week. End it with that new ad campaign which I personally think is great, clear messaging and one of their smarter ad campaigns.

Next Week = Flight Simulator 2024 (Game Pass), Genshin Impact and Stalker 2 (Game Pass).

Eating well on Game Pass lately, they slapped Spyro on me and now I've got to get through that before Stalker 2, then Stalker 2 before Indiana Jones, I had to put Dragon Age on hold because of Spyro and since dipping out, I've actually had a proper look at Game Pass and added like 5-6 extra titles for me to play, Lol. Too much stuff to play.

I'm surprised a platformer, with a focus on exploration/discovery has that many people registering for it.

Even if it looks very polished, and has lots of concepts taken from say mario or zelda.
The lead is female... and gets different powers by unlocking different dresses.... and part of its charm is helping others,
finding hidden area's and taking screenshots of it.

Looks like AoE 3 may finally be coming to console!

I find this funny to care about something like this.  Maybe it just me but I really find it hard to care if there is an edition that lets someone one play a game early.

Can you explain exactly the funny part or is it one of those 'well you were dumb to believe MS they are always scummy so thats why it is funny'...

'All games are day one on gamepass'   *correction  'All games are on gamepass day one if you pay the montly payment increase'....*correction   Indy and avowed will not be day one but 4/5 days later on gamepass'   It is scummy can't really name it something else;.

Yeah, the funny part is complaining about being a beta tester for a game and paying a price for it.  That is basically what your comment had me wondering about.  You get to play a game 5 days early than release for the privilege to be the first to find all the bugs so that on release, you make my experience so much better.  Thank you for those people willing to suffer for my enjoyment.

This is another point where I find it funny to complain about giving people who actually are willing to spend extra money to play a game early. Is it praying on someone to give them the option or is it giving them a choice.  I know I have absolutely no incentive to pay extra money to play any game early but then again, I value my money differently.  The thing is, if there is an audience for such a thing, not catering to that audience is miss money.

To miss money, exactly,  it is not a pro consumer move, not a pro gamepass move, it is a move that is only made to squeeze money from fans who will not feel like it is a choice but an obligation to do so and you may find it funny but I find it a vile businesspractice...  They did it a few times in the past but now it seems to become the norm and this will not be accepted well when those special editions release and people find out it isn't on gamepass...Ofcourse some xbox fans will defend it and say it is okay because EA and Ubisoft do it aswell...  This will also not be beneficial for the reviews or reception of the games because people will be more critically 'I had to pay 100$ for it so yeah'

...to avoid getting banned for inactivity, I may have to resort to comments that are of a lower overall quality and or beneath my moral standards.

Yes that's okay because nobody had to pay those extra... People complaining about "having" to pay more or being "squeezed" for something 100% optional is so weird.

There is a demand, and businesses will try to use it to make money. That's not a "vile" business practice; that's how the world works.
And again, you can just "wait" until the release date, five days later, and not give a single dollar to that "big bad evil corporation."

If I work my ass to get my money; I want to have the choice to put that extra (whatever the price is) to get 5 days early if I want; nothing wrong with that and NOBODY is forcing me to do so; that's 100% on me especially with something like that; that has 0 impact on the gameplay or experience for the game... And if I do not want to spend money on something so trivial or useless; I have 100% the choice to do so too...
