Feels like another Capcom hit? I mean it’s been 12yrs since their last so that’s a bold claim to make.

Multiple previews for Dragon's Dogma 2 are calling it a GOTY contender if the rest of the game is as good as the 4 hour demo that critics got to play for previews. Pretty crazy how every GOTY contender so far this year is a JP game, Tekken, Like A Dragon, P3R, FF7 Rebirth, and now possibly Dragon's Dogma 2.

I wonder if any western game will even get a GOTY nomination this year? Maybe some indie like Hollow Knight Silksong, assuming it actually makes 2024 after being delayed out of 2023? AAA wise, I'm not seeing alot from the west that is a possible contender. I would say Dragon Age 4 since Dragon Age Inquisition won GOTY back in 2014, but considering the reports that it still has GaaS underpinnings from back when it was still GaaS and the reports of radically different combat from past games, as well as the fact that it has been in dev hell for so long, I am skeptical it will do any better than low-mid 80's on reviews. AC Red maybe, if they can replicate the higher reviews of AC Odyssey after the somewhat lower reviews of AC Valhalla and much lower reviews of AC Mirage. Hellblade 2 reportedly got 90+ mock internal reviews, but who knows how reliable those are, Xbox said they were expecting like 80+ for Redfall based on mock reviews and they weren't even close; Hellblade 2 also has the Xbox Tax to contend with (same with Avowed and Indiana Jones).

I could see Metroid Prime 4 getting GOTY attention if it releases this year, and Retro Studios is based in Texas (Western). MP 1 Remastered got 9.4 meracritic.

Not surprising at all, anyway Capcom did even something more crazy, they announced no lay offs and that salaries will increase + bonus, stating that it is a investment in their future!!
