I’m convinced some people either didn’t watch the Business Update or are following anti-Xbox accounts that twist words to create their own narratives.

Sarah Bond literally said they had exciting updates to hardware coming this holiday season and that they’re ALSO investing in the next gen roadmap. That was like 5 seconds apart from each other.

How can anyone claim there was confusion?!

Are you saying DreamCastSponge isn’t a reality source for information!!!?

It literally doesn't matter what they have said, most quotes are broken later ..

Promises on hardware would be a pretty hard quote to break. That's one of the more definitive statements unlike quotes regarding exclusivity or services.

You break a promise on hardware, you've lost your dedicated playerbase. Especially when the playerbase is already antsy.

Doesn't really matter either way. No one can claim there's confusion when the quote is 100% precise and clear. Anyone who says otherwise is in their own bubble looking for cracks.

Lol
People on the internet:
Xbox about to become 3rd party

Xbox:
Nope we only target 4 games for multiplatform release, we will release new hardware in the future.

People on the internet:
What do they mean... why can't they be clear... They did not confirm for the next millennium so does that mean they will become 3rd party? Phil needs to stop lying.

XD

Larian confirmed BG3 will get cross-platform mod support 😁

Damn, that is great news for sure. The game has so many excellent mods, ranging from one that adds in dozens of new playable species/races, to mods that add new character creator face options (very nice for certain races especially that have lackluster options in the base creator), to mods that give you extra starting racial bonuses (for instance you can get the halfling ability to reroll any 1 dice you roll on all other races). Not to mention tons of great modded armor sets.

It isn't hard to break, they promised so much with Xbox one, Always online consoles will be better, Kinect makes Xbox one more interactive and better and so on...

I mean the exciting hw update can end up delayed to next year tho..

Most of the "broken" quotes do not use the actual quote, they use a version that is paraphrased or a personal interpretation that is either unknowingly or willfully twisted by those who claim lies or broken promises.

I've seen this countless times eg. this

When you take just a little time and look at their actual quote you'll see there isn't much to support that narrative though.

That ^^ Most of the things are made up stuff from people or wrong interpretation from the start.

If they tell you that they are working on getting more Square Enix games on Xbox, people read "Final Fantasy 7 is coming!!!", and when (not if) it does not come, then the "Microsoft broke their promises, Phil is liar, Xbox leadership are killing puppies..." is starting to popup.

This is just never stopping, the majority of people saying that "Phil is lying blah blah blah", are either not even interested by what he actually said but more about what "they want to hear"....

FFS, we got some very clear update and this BS is still going on and mostly fueled people who are pro-Play Station in the first place or medias in need of those previous clicks.

I'm guessing the hardware part was removed from the blog post not because they decided to kill the next gen hardware, but because the hardware they talked about for later this year was delayed or cancelled. Mid gen refresh consoles Holiday 2024 don't really make sense if next gen is Holiday 2026, just 2 years later, and the leaks are all saying Holiday 2026 for next gen Xbox hardware. Could also be that the hardware for later this year were not in fact mid-gen refresh consoles, but were the rumored 3rd party OEM Xbox consoles, or the rumored Xbox handheld, and something delayed them to next year.

Or even simpler, the marketing department doesn't want its job to be overstepped and properly control the messaging behind any announcement at a better time so they asked that part of the quote to be removed so they could do their job properly.

It's very unlikely that in 2 weeks they went from confident enough to announce or strongly insinuate a late-year release to a cancellation or delay.
