Competition not releasing on other console platforms. Brad L.

The reasons are the same, slim profit margins, Xbox moved to PC first and Sony followed, albeit with timed exclusives, now it appears they're going all the way, first they moved with day and date GaaS, then smaller titles, now they're hinting they'll be even further in an effort to increase profit margins, as are Xbox's moves to port to PlayStation, the profit margins in the console industry aren't good for neither Microsoft or Sony and they will both need to evolve and change their business, in some ways console gamers won't like, but things could look very different 5-10 years from now.

I'm not saying it's likely but I also wouldn't say it's impossible to say that PlayStation would never port old titles to Xbox/Nintendo Switch in the future, if their profit margins don't increase in a way they hope for, the console market is stagnant and budgets are increasing. Sony no matter what people try to say has often followed Microsoft in the past with certain business moves, they just waited for Xbox to test the waters first and receive the blunt of the criticism, Sony will watch closely Xbox's upcoming move and also watch closely how Marathon does as a fully multiplatform release.

Indiana Jones in November then.

The sad feeling when COD will hit the cut-off date for TGAs but Indiana Jones likely won't.

I still can’t believe we all been shook that Microsoft might announce they’re going multiplatform tomorrow and Sony announce they are first 😂😂 PS games on Xbox? The superior IPs on the superior hardware, this timeline is fucking wild.

I think Sony President was mainly referring to day one PC when he said they may go more multiplatform. But then again they have seen the Xbox profits from MLB and Destiny 2, so maybe they will do late ports to other consoles at least.

He was, for now. Point is they're following pretty much the exact same road as Xbox, despite people saying Sony would never release on PC, they did, then never do day one, they did, they're slowly pushing the "line" to get their console users okay with the idea, I'm pretty sure we'll eventually see a date where every Sony exclusive is day one on PC.

But if those still don't result in profit margins which they desire? Then they like Microsoft will also start looking at other consoles, look, you can say it will hurt their hardware business but, PlayStation 5 is already selling incredibly well but those profit margins are terrible and that is what a company cares most about, they probably want at minimum 10-20% profit margins.

Imo, they'll watch Marathon, if that performs well on Xbox, they'll start considering porting their other GAAS titles over to Xbox, if I'm being honest? I don't think it will hurt PlayStation in the slightest, at this point there's millions of gamers who buy PlayStation simply because they're entrenched in their ecosystem, millions of gamers who play solely COD, Minecraft, GTA, Fortnite, etc, who have no interest in PC.

And I think in the future, the focus for console hardware will be to always sell it at a profit.

Switch 2. It's the only one guaranteed to have very strong first party lineup and it's going to have the best third party support Nintendo has had since probably the SNES. Plus, it looks like it will get an increasing amount of MS games.

I'm happy with my Series X, and will get a SX2 if MS doesn't release major games on Switch 2, but if they do release major games downscaled unto Switch 2 (due to dlss magic) then I see no point in owning multiple consoles.

As for Playstation, over the years they've increasingly had less and less blockbusters per year and it looks like 2024 will be the worst year yet. Their game development strategy is not cost effective. The PS6 is going to have an even worse pipeline than PS5, so there is little incentive to get one.
