This is, like, the first news I've seen about it in 2.5 years.  Success or flop, PD needs a behind-the-scenes documentary about its development.

Half by April...So probably a lot of layoffs, closures, job uncertainty over the Holidays. Embracer is trash.

Idas Said:

Results from Embracer:

- A bit better than expected.

- The restructuring program has resulted in a reduction of around 900 staff, 5% of its workforce, and the discontinuation of several studios and projects in some studios.

- Mixed reception and performance for Payday 3.

-
Multiple divestments and/or external investments are very likely happening:

In the past months, we have accelerated processes to divest assets relative to processes to increase external funding of game development projects. This shift is driven primarily by a notable inbound interest, but also by market dynamics and reduced levels of platform content investments. As a result, we are now running a few structured divestment processes that give us flexibility and optionality to reach our targets. We are focused on maximizing shareholder value and on delivering the targeted run-rate capex levels in the most effective way. Notable capex savings and net debt reduction are expected to materialize post-completion of these processes.

- Internal consolidation is happening too:

Right now we are in the early stages of our plans to consolidate our businesses, including a review of our operative group structure, which is part of the late stages of the restructuring program. We have a responsibility to use our size and talent in smart ways to develop and scale services and capabilities across Embracer to deliver always better experiences for players.

They have 12 operative groups (Gearbox, Crystal Dynamics/Eidos or Saber are independent groups, for example). I guess that more than one is going to be consolidated.

Idas Said:

After so many tries and the last round of layoffs, it doesn't sound like Amazon is very interested in the developing side of things. It seems like the focus is publishing games and expanding Luna as a cloud service. But the internal memo shared a few days ago also said this:

Our internal studios are actively recruiting and hiring to fill critical roles as they develop new IP, while Prime Gaming continues to secure deals and deliver compelling content for members every month. We are committed to our vision of becoming one of the leading developers and publishers of high-quality games, and focusing our resources accordingly will help us get there.

So, maybe they are ready to make a move.

In any case, Embracer is constantly talking about Tom Raider as a huge IP for them and a big chance for transmedia projects.

So, I don't know if they will be willing to sell Crystal Dynamics/Eidos...

Q: Is there a chance that, with its overseas popularity, the Persona series could sell 5 million copies in its first year?

A: By increasing the number of platforms it is available on and the regions it is released in, we have been increasing the sales of Persona 5. We believe that it would be possible for a major Persona title, such as a numbered release, to sell 5 million copies in its first year by releasing it on multiple platforms and simultaneously worldwide from day one.

We also have high expectations for the new IP Metaphor: ReFantazio from the developers of Persona 5.

Sega Targets 5 Million Sales in Debut Year for Next Numbered Persona Title - Persona Central

Sounds very likely that Persona 6 is launching on Xbox day one.

Good to hear!!!Would be a huge fumble by Sarah to let this be money hatted by PS.

Pretty sure with Embracer buying up everyone this isn't a surprise to see them collapse like this. Wonder if there will be any buyers...

The new update also adds benefits for Ubisoft+ subscribers. With a linked Ubisoft+ account, members can now launch supported Ubisoft+ games they already own from the GeForce NOW app, and the game will be automatically added to “My Library.” Get more details on Ubisoft account linking.

Version 2.0.58 also includes an expansion of the new game session diagnostic tools to help members ensure they’re streaming at optimal quality. It adds codec information to the in-stream statistics overlay and includes other miscellaneous bug fixes. The update should be available for all members soon.

So DA Dreadwolf rumoured for next year. I’m just saying if next year we get Dragons Dogma 2, Avowed and DA:DW then boy I’m eating GOOD!

The only bad thing is that DA Dreadwolf will probably suck. The playtester leaks from earlier this year didn't sound very good at all. To summarize what I read from those leaks back in February:

  • The game still feels like it is GaaS even though it isn't, because it began life as a GaaS game in 2018 before EA decided to remove the GaaS elements in 2021 after Anthem flopped as GaaS and Jedi Fallen Order succeeded as a singleplayer only game, too late in development for it's GaaS DNA to be fully removed. Central hub area where you leave for missions via a magic mirror, UI elements and loot feel like a GaaS game.
  • Action RPG combat with dodging and timing critical parries that was described as playing like a combination of God of War 2018 and Final Fantasy XV, no party member control, instead they do normal attacks with their own AI while you can select party member special attacks from a radial menu like Guardians of the Galaxy, no overhead tactical cam or turn based option like DA Origins and DA Inquisition had.

Hopefully Bioware learned from the middling feedback from the playtests that they needed to at least add party member control and tactical cam ahead of launch, the last thing they should do is pull a Final Fantasy and remove the DNA of Dragon Age to chase something new.
