Is Kojima Productions a third party partner?

Kojima would be considered second party since it's an Xbox ecosystem exclusive and published by Xbox.

Third party partners are for multiplat games. That's why we see Like A Dragon and Alan Wake 2 named. I wonder if Baldur's Gate 3 might be here.

Release date for Baldur's Gate 3 seems likely, assuming it is still 2023 like they said it would be when Xbox dropped the Series S splitscreen parity requirement. I truly hope Xbox has gone for day one Gamepass on it too, to make up for causing the late release by waiting so late to drop the parity requirement.

I feel like this mini-show is practically in service to this announcement in order to not seem like it'll miss this year.

Anything published by Xbox is considered 1st party.

Second party in this case. 1st party is ownership of said studio. Rare was considered second party throughout the N64 life even though all games were published by Nintendo, but Nintendo never outright owned Rare.

Xbox doesn't officially recognise the 2nd party term, to them it's either 1st party or 3rd party, so if they own the IP it's 1st party whether it's a studio owned by them or not (not talking about the studio here but the IP). For studios it's either we own them or we don't. So if say Kojima's title were to be in this showcase they would say they have 1st party in the showcase.

Well Xbox are idiots jk that's odd though since the 2nd party term is an official term in the gaming industry, but I guess that's not the case here with Xbox and Kojima.

All the events Xbox will have next year if they stick to a similar schedule as this year.

  • January - Developer Direct
  • June - Xbox Games Showcase
  • July - IGN x ID@Xbox Digital Showcase
  • August - Quakecon
  • October - COD Next, Partner Preview and Minecon.
  • November - Blizzcon

Not to mention showing up at TGAs, TGS, Gamescom.

Feb-May looking a little dry tho.
