This rising popularity of Halo just highlights the power of hype and how gamers jump into bandwagon, whether it's hate or positivity lol.

And it usually is over the top. I mean, this Season 5 didn't do such dramatic changes after all (except changing ranked starting weapon) the game has been great for many many months now.

Same with Cyberpunk, the story and core gameplay is still very much the same I've heard and it was always great.

Great to see 343 managed to get this hypetrain going though and I'll keep playing while trying to get used to Bandit Evo starts. Playing and crying of course. Crying about a game without playing it is for losers.

True.

Halo Infinite has been great since launch, the gunplay is amazing, its core issue was that it fucked up the post-launch support which is deadly in the era of live-service multiplayer titles and means other titles will eat its lunch. It was always hilarious to me when people acted like Infinite wasn't critically acclaimed and loved on launch across both the Campaign and Multiplayer because the post-launch content was bad, Lol. Then people get suckered into the negativity band-waggon, I'd say the same is happening with Diablo IV where cause they fucked up the post-launch people are now acting like the game always sucked and was bad on launch, Lol.

Infinite fixed its content issues in Season 4 and more than fixed it, they have a ridiculous amount of maps now cycling into matchmaking, the core gameplay is brilliant and always has been, Forge has been amazing since its launch, Season 5 hasn't really drastically changed the game aside from add even more cool content, I would counter just a little and say Forge AI is going to be a gamechanger for player created content, Firefight will be a big add too but that isn't even in Season 5 yet, and yet people are raving about Season 5 already, Lol. Oh and people have barely had time to create stuff with Forge AI as well. So I think you're ultimately right, it's marketing, it's a hype cycle.

I think the cross-core customisation changes are pretty awesome for customisation as well but that stuff isn't really going to be the stuff that brings in mass players and hype, like I said, Halo Infinite fixed its content issues in Season 4 (By a significant amount) and Tbf Season 4 had better player retention than the previous seasons so you could say the hype started a little there but I feel like Season 5 is being hyped way, way more than previous seasons but as you said, the core gameplay hasn't even changed, Lol. It's a good thing though, I hope it continues and more people get out of being bitter and actually give Halo Infinite a chance again now that it's full with content.

Phil should hire Layden run ABK

Bought a new pc today and was a bit worried about vgchartz because hadn't logged out in like 16 years, did not help that my account was linked with an email that I didn't use for 15 years aswell....Anyway I somehow still remember the PW ^^.

Just in time to see Angry Joe bring up his one hour long starfield review (6/10 if you were curious)

I've always said this, if ABK continues to exist, they should toss money at Layden.

Only complication is that Layden has multiple times spoken about his fears of AAA gaming, the rising costs, the manpower, about him wanting fewer AAA titles and the return of 12-15 experiences, I'm not sure how enthusiastic he would be at running what is one of the biggest AAA powerhouses in the industry, I think he may prefer working more on mid-sized/indies nowadays.
