Starfield Coming to Your Screens Soon… | Samsung - YouTube

Starfield marketing starting to kick into high gear!

Not surprised at all that Square's initial PR statement about FF16 being a success was mostly baloney, glad the shareholders called them out on that. Square has been floundering for awhile now and FF16 being a middling success at best is not enough to make up for their numerous other recent flops. Pretty obvious why the previous President was asked to step down now, and why one of the new President's first acts was to announce that Square games would be multiplat as often as possible (minus timed deals that had already been made under the old leadership but haven't been announced yet).

Hopefully they refocus back on what Final Fantasy fans want, instead of giving us Final Fantasy-DMC hybrid nonsense with western style writing and art design and heavily action combat. Imo they need to go with full playable parties, an action-timed hybrid system like FF7R uses, and stick with Japanese style writing and artwork. They've tried twice now this year to hybridize Japanese and western game design, with both FF16 and Forspoken, one was an unmitigated disaster, while the other shipped about 1.2m less copies in the first week than FF15 sold on PS4 alone in 1 day even though PS5's install base was only a few million lower than PS4's was when FF15 released.

And with SE publicly announcing that they'll be focusing on AAA games going forward, hopefully much more multiplat releases will happen out of it.

Red Dead Redemption being nothing but a port of the original on Switch and PS4 is lame AF. Because it's not even on Xbox that means no new achievements for me. It's overpriced as hell too, $50 for a port, are they out of their f*ing minds? What an absolute disaster.

I still can't believe that Rockstar decided to cancel the remake of RDR1 in the RDR2 engine that they had planned simply because they f*ed up and let some crap mobile studio develop GTA Trilogy Remaster, which subsequently flopped due to horrific reviews. Don't blame the fans for not buying an absolute garbage project and then cancel the other remake you have in development as a result. R* is nothing but a shell of what they once were, all they care about is GTA Online these days, and they're willing to let their other IP's like RDR and Bully rot instead of focusing development resources on them. Pathetic.

That is another 2m players since May this year. At the rate it's going it will hit at least 40m before Forza Horizon 5 releases most likely September/October 2024. And considering that so far each Horizon game attracted more players than the previous one, if the series can keep up it's growth, Horizon 6 might just have a shot at 50m+.

Still think it's stupid as heck that MW3 is releasing 1 year after MW2. We need a much longer gap between new titles in a CoD sub series. I get that they really only have 2 CoD sub series that sell well, Black Ops and Modern Warfare, due to each of the 3 new sub-IP's that Sledgehammer made (Advanced Warfare, WW2, and Vanguard) selling considerably less than Black Ops and Modern Warfare games do, but that is still no excuse to milk MW and Black Ops into the ground, they should let Sledgehammer keep trying until they develop a sub-IP that sells as well as Black Ops and Modern Warfare. This MW3 didn't even get 3 years of development, Sledgehammer's last title was CoD Vanguard in 2021, so MW3 from Sledgehammer is releasing with just 2 years of development time.

Really hope that Phil does decide to slow the CoD release schedule down from yearly to every other year like he suggested he would, it would eventually give each of the 3 main singleplayer+multiplayer CoD studios 6 years to make their games instead of 3 years, and with double the dev time on each game, less support studios would be needed to assist and keep up with the grueling 3 year per game dev cycle, freeing up other Activision studios besides the main 4 (Treyarch, Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer, and Raven), studios such as Beenox and Toys For Bob, to release more of their own games without constantly having dev team members pulled from their own games to assist on CoD crunch.
