I'll admit I'm not a big Capcom fan, that is why I have said many times that I would prefer Xbox to acquire Sega or Koei Tecmo over Capcom if they were to go for a Japanese publisher. Over the years I've tried Monster Hunter, Street Fighter, DMC, and Dead Rising, and didn't particularly like any of them enough to play the game to completion. I do enjoy the Resident Evil games, but don't play them myself as I'm too chicken to play horror games alot the time, instead I have watched youtube playthroughs of most of the Res games. I also dislike how Capcom has been self-censoring alot of their games in recent years, in ways that aren't required by the various game rating agencies like ESRB and CERO.

I haven't tried Dragon's Dogma myself, and by now I'm sure it's too dated for me to enjoy after almost 11 years, but I might try the upcoming Dragon's Dogma 2, which is supposed to release in 2024 or according to insider reports.

Dude, if Monster Hunter Stories 2 finally makes it to Xbox, you need to play that ASAP! It’s the best Pokémon game outside of Gold/Silver/Crystal

Some of the best Capcom IP are unfortunately dormant like Power Stone, Lost Planet, Viewitful Joe, and Dino Crisis. Capcom has become a bit too reliant on their signature IP’s but Dragon’s Dogma 2 in development is going to be huge, and I’m anxious to see what Pragmata turns out to be! Their RE Engine is top notch these days too!

RE4 so far is amazing! 2023 gonna be Capcom’s most successful year in years lol

You should still try it - nothing is too outdated to the point where one would say "Not playable" imo.

I'm playing the original The Legend of Zelda for NES right now for an example lol. Its outdated in terms of stuff the latest games offer especially in the same series but I'm still having a blast.

That is one that I might like for sure, I have heard good things about it, same with the Mega Man Battle Network RPG's, which are also skipping Xbox sadly. Seems like their series that I might actually like are the ones they skip Xbox on while the ones I don't like are the one's they readily port to Xbox, sucks.

You forgot to mention Breath of Fire and Darkstalkers ;(

Dead rising 1 was pretty emblematic in the early days of the 360. The 2nd was also good but 3 was barely ok and 4 was... Well i didn't knew it even existed until recently. Wish MS would just buy the ip which is very much associated to Xbox and made a remake of the first.

Capcom is one of the best publishers/developers out there imo. I love Atlus but if I had to pick a Japanese publisher for MS to acquire it'd definitely be Capcom over anyone else. RE, MH, SF, DMC, would all be big boons to have under the xbox ecosystem. Of course I don't believe MS will make a bid for Capcom or any decently sized Japanese pub. I think Sony could be a more likely suiter for Capcom at this point than MS.

Although sales of Japanese games are heavily scewed towards PS anyway so idk if there's much point in Sony purchasing any Japanese pub in the first place. Sony making a play for the struggling Ubisoft or another smaller/medium sized western pub makes more sense to me than them buying Square Enix or Capcom.

Yeah I aint readin all that, god forbid Sony can't have anything. Idk why you xbots won't let them have one thing. If anything Capcom should beg Sony to buy them and offer them up for free.

And Capcom games don't sell on Xbox pimp. I was told by multiple people on many servers from very reliable sources that Phoenix Wright sold like 1000 copies on Xbox, that fact alone should disqualify a capcom purchase.

Also Sony the type of company to take games off of a platform where they outsell the competition 95/5 on sales, so business logic kinda goes out the window tbh.

I think Microsoft will chill for a couple of years after this, likely go for some independent studios though. Activision-Blizzard was just really hard and the political climate isn't in their favour. I'd be surprised if they try to acquire another publisher unless it's a counteroffer against someone else. What I would like to see is them take minority stakes in a few companies, such as Sega.

I do wonder if Sony's desperation to get the deal blocked and therefore convincing regulators to boot Nintendo from the market will backfire on them a little, Sony will receive more scrutiny on major acquisitions due to being a market leader but before that it included Nintendo, now it's just Xbox vs Sony and in some countries Sony dominates Xbox (I.E. Japan, as pointed out by the Senator under this made up market, Sony has a 96-98% share of it).

I believe they will still get acquisitions through but it will be a lot harder than before, Sony has ironically helped educate regulators on their dominance in the market and established themselves as the market leader by a significant margin. Once the maths was corrected, once people actually looked at the data, the Console SLC was dropped for Xbox.

Seems like Xbox has to worry more about a Cloud SLC than a Console SLC for the near future which sometimes feels more difficult because the Cloud SLC is based on a nascent market and a prediction of a future market, I think Xbox will have to worry more about if any future companies they acquire are strong Cloud supporters. Sony will have to be more concerned about a Console SLC.
