The funny part is this has a chance to be the biggest franchise this generation (Besidese Wii... games). I think it will hit 10 million+ with the Olympics hitting then Xmas, then pricedrop etc. and we will see M&S winter olympic games next year and it will be just as big. With the DS titles we might see 25-30 million total sales for the brand this gen. Yikes



Final* Word on Game Delays:

The game will not be any better or include more content then planned. Any commnets that say so are just PR hogwash to make you feel better for having to wait.

Delays are due to lack of proper resources, skill, or adequate planning by the developer.

Do be thankful that they have enough respect for you to delay the game and maintain its intended level of quality.

To be honest this pisses me off a lot... I love sega... But lets say M&S (which is an ok game at best) sells 4 million and Condemned 2(amazing game) sells 500K tops. M&S couldn't have cost more than 1/5th of what Condemned 2 cost to make...

The odds of condemned 3 are highly unlikely yet im sure we will se M&S polka dancing in the near future.

This sucks for all gamers is what I'm saying. If MGS4 is a $ failure I'm sure Konami will move its major studios to focus on making kitty petting simulators... Hello kitty indeed...

Don't blame poor sales of expensive games on the budget titles.    If a developer decides to stop producing big budget titles, it isn't because budget games are sellind so great, it's because their expensive games went bust.

 

Tell me, would you continue to bleed money game after game if it failed to bring in profit?

No I wouldn't. But as a gamer/consumer this doesn't really concern me. I want to see good games sell well and get sequels. Lately I've seen a trend of a lot crappy games selling great... and this only adds more fuel to that argument. Hence why my displeasure with M&S...I have the same displeasure with Kane and Lynch and Army of 2.  Sega of early to late 90's would take this money now and make Panzer Dragoon 3, some totally wierd and off the wall titles that would become calssics in 10 years and Shenmue 3...and would probably go broke after with the current trend in gaming.

Before, Everyone Laugh at Sega's prediction and now everyone is like...whoa. If it continues with these kinds of sales it could very much reach 10 million plus with the DS version included

 So you basically demand that developers create high budget software at a loss for your own benefit?  Why not demand they sell the games at no profit too while you're at it?    You can't have the cake and eat it too.   Demand all you want but if the developer can't profit from it, don't expect to see it happening.  And as the relationship between consumer and provider is correlated, I'd say it concerns you very much.
