Could anyone one explain to me why our numbers our so much higher than NPD LTD? Cause in the source's report, they seemed millions below the 360 and about 0.5m below PS3

@Sinha,
Yeah I got that, I think you missed what I was going for =P
@Krik,
I only meant I hadn't double checked your numbers, and short of doing that everything appeared fine~
I ve read the PS3 will be released in argentina in august

Also Canada as a percentage of USA isn't exactly 10% etc etc. Having said that, this is a reasonable comparison and to be honest it is not suprising to be within 10% on most figures. As I've said previously monthly fluctuations tend to cancel out not add. The way we are doing this is long term so whereas our stores may sell more than average amounts for a particular product one month and less the next, over time we are scaling the figures we get so that we are always in the right ballpark and figures will match well with shipments and other sources over quarters and years. I'm sure on a weekly basis our figures fluctuate even more from reality and this itself is damped slightly over month periods. |
Hmm... this means the results might be even closer than what I posted. Thanks for replying with you opinion.
BTW: Any chance we can a better split of the NA market? Just curious if you can share something with us besides the USA+10% we (VGC members) been using ;)
Is everyone ignoring me or something?
@krik, You invited people to tell you if anything was wrong and I have, the data you took from VGC is skewed 1 week from the NPD data... If I am wrong then I am sorry, but I think I have it correct.

They will just say 'because ioi adjusted them'.

Ok, I will not insist, you need to have your secrets ;)
| TWRoO said: Actually I am not certain, but the NPD data I assume you are using (Jan+Feb+Mar) should in fact coincide with different VGC numbers than what you have. I think December NPD ran into January (week ending 5th Jan was in December NPD) so that the VGC weeks you should use are these: (both dates are for the week ending on that date) VGChartz Hardware data for the period 12th Jan 2008 to 05th Apr 2008:
Wii - 1426 (multiplying by 1.1 because I don't know the Canada numbers)
This may not be totally accurate because I do not know the preferences of the Canadians (they may buy more than 10% of American 360s, which would put the numbers closer) However it does show that VGC is incredibly close for both PS3 and Wii, and ioi has maintained for a while that NPD undertracks 360 so the increase there makes sense.

Hmm... need to check those NPD dates again. Stil, my original post was just to show how close NPD and VGC are. If you are correct it's even closer. Except 360... not sure why 360 is the only one with over 10% difference, seems to much compared to the others :(
EDIT: Just checked, you're right NPD started in Jan 6th. Need to fix my spreadsheet when I get back home... ty
