This marks the 1st time a Monster Hunter game (well... expansion) gets released on two main platforms on the same day. By "main" I mean platforms which it sells great numbers on. Though the caveat here is that the base game, which is required for Sunbreak, came out late on PC. Even later than World.
I'm curious about splits. I think right now some 75% of these numbers come from the Switch version thanks to Japan and the base game releasing much earlier on Switch, but the gap will get smaller over time. I very much doubt Rise/Sunbreak on PC will catch up to World/Iceborne's numbers, but it seems to be doing well considering the nature of the game.
To put things into perspective, Iceborne on PS4 sold 2.55 million in Japan alone (55%~ of wordwide PS4 sales) as of mid-October 2020, compared to around 140k on PC (Japan) and 450k on Xbox One (worldwide). Capcom mentioning PC's growth in Japan post COVID makes me curious as to how Rise compares to World over there.
