Forums - Nintendo - SMG is giving me carpal tunnel

I'll second everyone else advice about sensor bar in terms of finding a comfortable position. I play my Wii via my desktop monitor which is fairly high compared to the average TV so i actually have the sensor bar on the bottom of the monitor but tell the Wii it's on top of the monitor and this seems to work really well with me just sitting on my bed and resting my hands on my crossed legs.

I thought Mario Galaxy had no camera problems until i watched someone else play it and have trouble. I realise alot of experience with games like this must have given me a better sense of how to avoid getting the camera in bad positions.

Mario Galaxy has the best auto-camera I've ever seen. That said, no auto-camera is perfect. Still, I can't remember a time I ever actually died from the camera. I can remember a couple times it was minorly irritating, but not a time it ever actually killed me.

Ive finished Zack&Wiki, Zelda, Metroid and have had no troubles at all playing them. Ive played standing, sitting and laying on my bed as well.

No difficulties at all.

Fullfilled Prophecies

I personally haven't had a problem with the camera or my wrist then again I was too into the game to notice anything else.

"Like you know"

i sometimes find the camera annoying in SMG and yes, it has caused me to die on numerous occasions

If Galaxy hurts your wrist and masturbation doesn't, have you tried doing both at once?

This is a reason why I haven't really cared for the Wii. PC fps games and typing have warn down my hands. My wrists are hurting even after a short time with the Wii.

I agree. The auto camera is very good, probably the best I have seen. Still, it's taking me a bit of time to readjust from controlling my own camera.

BTW, I figured out my problem... I was sitting on the wrong side of the couch. The way I had my weight balanced was putting weight on my elbow and constricting wrist movement a little, just enough to hurt it over time. I suddenly had the realization that when I played my old Wii, I was on the other side of the couch. Moved over and now it's fine.

And I just got to my first "real" SMG level... The Rocky Road Galaxy. Once I heard that old school Mario music kick up, I yelled "Hell YES! This is gonna be HARD!" And it was. Not terribly difficult, but enough to make me die a few times and that's all I ask for. Easy Mario games just don't do it for me.

YES! CONGRATULATION!

I'm still barely at the begnning (of like 20 games at once 'cuz I'm an idiot), because I've barely had time to play due to school and marriage and moving and bullshit, but I'll definitely try to make it to the Rocky Road Galaxy now.

Rocketpig, I suggest you praise your Wii because I want one so f*cking bad right now!!

Enjoy Super Mario Galaxy and all, I suggest you get use to the controls and be glad you own one :)
