I played the first game a lot of years ago. It was my first experience with a game with Brazilian-Portuguese voice acting.
I have Max Payne 2 for PS2, but never finished it.

How was the Portuguese dubbing for the first game? I played the first game with Spanish dubbing many years ago and I thought it was pretty good.
I highly recommend trying MP2 out if you liked the first one but either play the PC version or wait for the remake. The PS2 version is ugly as hell and the loading times suck.

The portuguese dubbing in Max Payne 1 was really good.
Really liked both games, which I cannot say for 3rd one. I hope they keep them close to originals.
Spike0503 said: As a fan of both games this announcement is super exciting. Particularly cause I'd like to have a great console version of the second game which is one my all-time favorites. It's also relieving to hear that Remedy themselves are going to be handling the development, specially after the GTA remaster fiasco. |
True I'm happy its making a come back and in a full remake. And MP2 being the higher budget one. They did pretty well with Alan Wake Remaster so I have high confidence Remedy will deliver here.
But yeah I'd settle for anything new. And I didn't mind the story for MP3. It was fine.. however there's not much to go from the ending from the third game. Maybe they'll continue from 2 should Rockstar plan to bring the series back. Maybe they are testing waters to see how well the games sell.. or even have one already planned *fingers crossed*.

I get that its a different kind of game and setting (not noir as such). Though I loved Rockstars MP3. The shooting and gameplay in that was absolutely sublime and story was decent. I'd go as far as to say its one of the best TPS out there and one of my all time favourites; same with the other games. Which I have bought several times on different platforms over the years lol. The only thing I didn't really like was the unskippable cutscenes.. but that was to cover load times. Each to their own I guess heh.
All I want is for me to be able to buy it on Steam/GoG without need for a R* launcher or it being exclusive to the one store I'm never touching for a year, that's all I want from this.
Step right up come on in, feel the buzz in your veins, I'm like an chemical electrical right into your brain and I'm the one who killed the Radio, soon you'll all see
So pay up motherfuckers you belong to "V"
Considering its Remedy making it, hopefully it wont be as much of a mess as what GTA Trilogy was when it first launched.

Yeah, lack of that noir MP1/2 ambience is what put me off immediately from MP3...my dislike of TPP cover shooters is just what added the salt to injury. It was not a bad game, but for me it was bad Max Payne game (somewhat similar how I find Tomb Raider Reboot to be a great as TPS game, but complete miss as Tomb Raider game).

You and I park our shuttles in the same bay, lol. I agree with pretty much everything you said, including MP3. The story in the third game was simply not as good as the first two and it's probably because the writer is Dan Houser from the GTA series instead of Sam Lake. Even then, the gameplay is really, really good. As someone who tends to avoid games in First Person, I'm really into TPS games and MP3's gameplay really delivered on taking some cues from the originals like the painkillers and the bullet time but also adding some modern cover mechanics.
My favorite mission in MP3 is actually the Panama yacht mission. Great action and the story is pretty much unrelated to the nonsense in the main story. Oh and yeah, let's hope these remakes are a success so we can get another game. I could use more Max Payne game in my life!

Haha. Yeah you can see it was heavily inspired by Man on Fire (brilliant film btw) and didn't quite have film-noir charm/aesthetic of the others. And was missing the vibe as a result. Though tbh I enjoyed it in the way it did its own thing as writing and story goes. And the different setting (in São Paulo) was pretty interesting and not done in a lot of other games, which was cool. Plus it has a brilliant OST done by Heath.. which was fantastic. Especially on the later levels, so good! Gets the adrenaline/mood going for sure. As for the gameplay the shooting is spot on, bullet-time, physics and cover system works so well and so well polished' is why I rank it so high. Must have replayed it 3-4 times which is probably the most I've done in a game lol.
Nice that was a pretty intense level. Not played it for a while but I remember being quite claustrophobic on that level lol. And some crazy shootouts. Mine is either the Stadium or the Airport, the latter being the most memorable for me.
And yeah I'm down for more Max Payne. And if Remedy are involved super hype. This is like a dream for me in terms of announcements Now we just need a 4th game. Hoping too this does well enough for them to consider making more. Maybe even re-release the third game on current gen consoles as well.
