Seems like ISIS also started to take areas from the Syrian army now. Doesn't look as if Assad is able to do anything right now.

Hopefully America/SDF can wipe them out.
I'm not a fan of HTS but if Assad falls then I feel like we may need to see just how far they are willing to take their newly claimed "moderate" stance to stabilise the region, so far, they're saying all the right things, they're doing the right things, even areas which are ideologically opposed to HTS are welcoming them with open arms and the first thing HTS did in Aleppo was restore water and electricity.
Now I'm seeing reports that HTS may appoint a Christian bishop as Governor of Aleppo, hmm. HTS and SDF are staying out of each others way and not attacking each other, that isn't stopping that dickhead Erdogan from attacking SDF though, both directly and indirectly through SNA (which is separate from HTS).
If Assad falls, which is looking likely, and HTS is serious about moderating themselves to be internationally recognised, then I say we could see how far their actions match their words, in exchange for certain things. We could say, we will give or do certain things as long as you stick to your word and moderate yourselves, as long as you treat minorities and other religions with fairness, it will require a stable hand but there's a chance to help stabilise the region and finally kick Russia out.
As for SNA/Türkiye vs the Kurds...I really wish we could tell Erdogan to fuck off. The Kurds deserve to live in Syria as much as anyone else. I hope the HTS and SDF continue to stay out of each others way and can coexist but it does nothing about Türkiye and SNA continuing to attack them.
Here is what the SDF have said about HTS thus far
“We have contact with Tahrir al-Sham through many channels, typically regarding the protection of our people in Aleppo. Apparently, we have never clashed with them,” Abdi told journalists during a press conference in Qamishli.
The SDF commander did not hide worries that the HTS-led rebels could attack Kurdish-held territories in the northeast.
“There is a new situation on the ground. We know that Hayat Tahrir al-Sham has taken away many areas from the Syrian regime what concerns us is that our region in northeast Syria should not be targeted. If we are attacked we will defend ourselves,” he said.
Here is what HTS has said
HTS leader Abu Mohammed al-Jolani has sought to reassure Syrians, especially minorities, who are concerned about what could lie ahead under possible HTS rule.
“No one has the right to erase another group. These sects have coexisted in this region for hundreds of years and no one has the right to eliminate them. There must be a legal framework that protects and ensures the rights of all, not a system that serves only one sect as Assad’s regime has done,” he told CNN in an exclusive interview that was released on Friday.
SDF in Contact With HTS, No Clashes Occurred: SDF
As far as I'm aware, right now it's only Türkiye/SNA who have been attacking SDF but that may just be because HTS is distracted.

I'm starting to believe this is the end of Assad and Russia in Syria...

The #Assad regime is finished in the east. pic.twitter.com/nAR8Go5Kfs
The SDF are moving on the East. Rebels are rising South of Damascus.
HTS is marching to Homs, North of Damascus.
Other Rebels (not HTS?) are moving on Latakia, home to a Russian airbase.

Russians are fleeing. This is looking like a complete collapse by the Assad forces and Russia isn't able to save them.

Damn...Erdogan being this public when he's usually just a slippery bastard behind the scenes, I think Assad is done for.
Quite the public display of Erdogan twisting the knife in Russia in as well, they've been in a proxy war for years in Syria.
So when is Russia going to abandon Assad and try to cut a deal with HTS? Hopefully HTS tell them to fuck off.
Last edited by Ryuu96 - on 06 December 2024Huge chunk of Syria just turned into grey zone on Liveuamap as Assad's forces have retreated. Kurdish forces have taken the last remaining road into Iraq which essentially cuts Assad off from Iran. HTS are on the outskirts of Homs which will cut Assad off from Russian bases. Rebels from the South and North advancing. It looks like all Assad forces are falling back to Damascus.
If Homs falls then Assad is done, cut-off from all angles, no allies to help him, nowhere to run, all HTS would need to do is encircle Damascus and siege them, likely won't be long before Assad's forces turn on him if that were to happen, Russia has just confirmed to Assad that they can only help him in a limited capacity because of being occupied with Ukraine.
24 years of rule and 13 years of Russia actively defending their pet project Assad may end in a few weeks.
Last edited by Ryuu96 - on 06 December 2024Certainly is looking like a regime change is going to happen in Syria, but we'll see. It's also possible the rebels run out of strength before they're able to topple the current regime.

Which ones? Lol.
Imo it won't even come down to Damascus, it will come down to Homs, if HTS manages to take Homs then Assad is literally cut off from all his allies and every major supply route, Russia to the North/North-West via Homs. They've just lost a large chunk in the South but Jordan wasn't coming to their rescue anyway. The SDF has cut them off from Iran/Iraq.
The Free Syrian Army is starting to take territory from Assad's forces in the South too.
Zoomed. (FSA isn't the ones South of Damascus but the ones East of Damascus).
