South Korea really rising more and more to maybe the biggest military power behind USA and China. They just have no nukes and their Navy doesn't seem as strong as from some other countries but otherwise? They have like thousands of pretty modern tanks and self propelled artillery. They could give Ukraine hundreds of tanks and artillery vehicles and still have a huge amount in stock.
When countries like Germany give Ukraine just a few modern tanks they already give away a big percentage of their stock lol...
Poland and some other countries also buy a lot of different equipment from South Korea to strengthen Koreas weapon industry.
It's not an easy decision for them to take part in this war because they have enough neighbors which won't like that and will try to use that against them but I really hope they will get involved. Especially considering the possibility of Trump winning which will increase the need for some other countries to jump in. |
Honestly, if Putin pisses off South Korea to the point of them directly supplying Ukraine it would be yet another in a long line of tactical fuckups by Russia, North Korea's support is not worth South Korea supporting Ukraine, Lmao. It really shows how desperate Putin is becoming (I also wonder what China thinks of Russia trying to get in with North Korea).
South Korea in most lists for global firepower is typically ranked around 5th or 6th, usually behind USA, Russia, China and India but that's on paper military strength, Russia was considered 2nd for the longest time but is unable to beat a country which barely made the top 20. I've a feeling though that South Korea takes their military a lot more seriously than Russia, Lol.
In total assets, they have the 5th largest aircraft (7th in fighter jets, 6th in attack jets, 5th in helicopters and 5th in attack helicopters). 9th in tanks, 8th in vehicles, 4th in self-propelled artillery, 2nd in towed artillery. Their military equipment is considered top quality, they have a robust defence industry which is world class, fast and efficient. Their arms exports have rapidly increased in recent years and they're now a top 10 exporter of arms in the world and growing still.
They have America's protection via the sea and honestly against North Korea as well but technically the conflict between North and South is only frozen, not ended. If Russia supplies North Korea then South Korea has no reason not to supply Ukraine because the only way to cut off North Korean support would be for Russia to be defeated.
