Whilst a step in the right direction, the big targets would be those airfields, which is where the plane that lauch glide bombs are stationed. Only 1 falls within that 100km range so it still leaves Ukraine vulnerable. |
The wording also leaves me with doubts.
Ukraine is also permitted to use U.S.-supplied air defense systems to strike Russian planes “if they’re about to fire into Ukrainian airspace,” Dietz said.
So Patriot is allowed to shoot down Russian planes if they're about to fire into Ukrainian airspace but does that mean that Ukraine isn't allowed to destroy the planes if they're just sitting on the runway not in that current moment firing missiles at Ukraine? That's an incredibly dumb restriction if that was the case.
ATACMS on all the airfields and ATACMS on Rostov-on-Don (Southern Military District) would be a massive blow to Russia.
