Isn't it interesting that Russia refused to allow Marco Rubio in the room between delegations of Ukraine and Russia but are seemingly eager to set up a meeting between Putin and Trump? One minute they don't want USA involved, the next they want to talk directly to USA about Ukraine, but only if it's with Trump, Lol. It's almost like Russia knows how easily manipulated Trump is!

They'll be a meeting between Trump and Putin and Putin will say how amazing Trump is, all it will take is 3 compliments for Trump to come rushing out the room and run to the reporters like: "Putin loves me! He told me how amazing I am! He loves America! Ukraine bad! Why doesn't Zelenskyy want peace?! Putin told me he wants peace! I believe everything he says!"

Almost 4 months and not once has Trump gone hard on Putin.

They only want to talk with their lapdog, not their lapdog's little puppies, as they know he won't do them anything and just roll over - but his puppies may not do this.

How Americans (not all of them, of course!) put up with Trump's spineless handling of the war in Ukraine is way beyond me. I can kind of understand if Americans don't care too much about the situation in Ukraine, but Trump's incompetence regarding Ukraine/Russia is just incredible.

No need to answer this, I guess. Trump promised everyone something, and for some reason, that something is sufficient and his voters don't much care what he does about other matters. Ukraine is those other matters for his voters because it's so distant.

They all think Russia will nuke them and scared.

I've honestly seen escalation management from someone I considered pretty smart at some point. That, among some other views I find somewhat dubious, led me to reconsider my opinion of that person. Could be another example of people being very competent in certain areas but not necessarily in others. That said, I doubt fear/worry is the case with the majority of Trump's voters, but I could certainly be wrong.

I am basing it on what I seen people comment on Facebook, I too could be wrong that its a majority as majorities are generally silent. Just paranoid. Some also think that Russia is good and Ukraine is evil still.

“We said 8,” Russian delegation cynically remarked, demanding 4 Ukrainian regions at Istanbul talks and threatening to seize others.

Blatant trolling now, Russia totally wants peace guys!

How will Trump spin all this shit for his masters.

He doesn't have to spin it. His followers either already think Ukraine should capitulate (because Ukraine is "fuil of Nazzees" or something) or they'll believe anything he says unquestioningly.

Macron says Trump plans to contact Russia “in the coming hours or days” to discuss next steps in the war on Ukraine.

While Europe coordinates with Kyiv in real time, Trump wants to “find out what happened.” Still no pressure on Putin.

"Trump wants to find out what happened" meanwhile what Russia is publicly saying...

Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry Rodion Miroshnik: "The Ukrainian delegation hoped for a ceasefire in Istanbul to regroup and rearm, but didn’t get what they wanted."

Russian media: “Next time, it’ll be six regions.” At Istanbul talks, Russia threatens to seize 6 Ukrainian regions if Kyiv doesn’t yield 4 “annexed” ones. Medinsky earlier boasted of demanding 8 regions.

— WarTranslated (Dmitri) (@wartranslated.bsky.social) 16 May 2025 at 19:37

🇷🇺 Russian MP Yevgeny Popov confirmed that Russia threatened to seize not five as previously claimed, but six more Ukrainian regions if Kyiv refuses to recognize the four already claimed.

“This was said behind closed doors — we can confirm it,” Popov stated, citing sources close to the talks.

🧵 Russian media spread unconfirmed claims that Medinsky presented these demands to Ukraine in Istanbul:

>Austrian-style neutrality
>No reparations from either side
>Rights for Russian speakers
>Recognition of RU claims to 5 regions it partially occupies
>Ceasefire tied to UA withdrawal there

I mean, we don't need to find out what happened, Russia is straight up telling us what happened, they rejected a ceasefire outright and demanded Ukraine surrenders all 5 territories, most of which it only partially occupies.

What Trump actually means is: "I want Putin to lie to me about what happened because I'm terrified to go against Putin"

What bothers me is these pathetic MAGA types who think they're alpha males and think Trump is some big tough negotiator, a true alpha male! But say nothing of the fact that he is licking Putin's ass every single day of his life and consistently failing to show a shred of "toughness" against Putin, their dead grandmas are tougher than Trump, it's absolutely fucking pathetic, Lol. I had a lot of criticisms towards Biden but JFC even his ridiculous escalation management was 1000x tougher than whatever the fuck Trump is doing.

🇺🇸🇪🇺 US to discuss troop reduction in Europe after NATO summit in The Hague, - Reuters

❗️US Permanent Representative to NATO specified that final decisions have not yet been made. He also noted that the US will remain in the alliance and will continue to be a "reliable ally."

“Putin is doing just enough to convince Trump he’s engaged in this effort to find peace in Ukraine, while also doing as much as possible to make sure it goes nowhere. And Trump is falling for it.”

It's clear, judging by the last words... we can't expect any sanctions on Russia.

UNFORTUNATELY, Putin is masterfully deceiving Trump!

Trump is played so easily, America is so weak under him.

Trump, when asked if Putin is an obstacle to peace: “I had a rough talk with Zelensky. He’s not making it easy — never had the cards.”

No mention of Putin. No pressure. No surprise. Trump has zero intention of holding his buddy accountable.

Trump says “nothing happens” on Ukraine until he meets Putin. While Europe pushes for sanctions after failed talks, Trump stalls, leaving allies guessing — again. No pressure on the Kremlin.

🇩🇪 Pistorius has accused Putin of lack of interest in ending the war in Ukraine after talks in Turkey.

🗣️ "Putin first declares his intention to negotiate a ceasefire, but then fails to show up and sends a third-rate delegation in his place," he said.

🇺🇦 "Europe continue to support Ukraine."

🇪🇺🇺🇸 European officials have no idea what Trump will say about Russia’s war in Ukraine next time, or what the implications might be for them, — Bloomberg.

Publicly, the Europeans are sticking to their line that sanctions will be imposed if Putin continues to refuse a ceasefire.

In private, however, European officials are frustrated and puzzled by Trump’s apparent vacillation. One official said they hope this week’s events will send a message to Trump that the Russians are not serious about peace talks and that the United States must respond forcefully.

Just STFU Europe. You're embarrassing yourself at this stage, either do something or just shut up, we're tired of hearing words words words and no actions because you're terrified to truly support Ukraine without America. Putin refused a ceasefire not once but fucking twice in a single week and still nothing, you're back to "Lets wait for Trump to finally see sense, we've only been waiting 4 months already"
