Zelensky: Today marks the third anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion. Three years of absolute heroism from our people. Eternal memory to those who defended our state and gave their lives for Ukraine's survival. Eternal gratitude to the fallen heroes – from Ukraine, and all free nations.

Zelensky: Russia must release all Ukrainian prisoners. We are ready for an "all-for-all" exchange.

Some may become Russia's allies in this war and profit, but they'll never gain respect. If Trump negotiates with Putin for peace, Ukrainians will lose trust in the US.

Ukrainian fighters doubt a quick peace following Trump’s statements and feel betrayed by the US president – CNN writes.

"We all feel betrayed since Trump started to talk about his ‘peace plans.’ I would not be surprised if he’s Russia’s best agent. We have to hold on…that’s all," they said.

In a statement, the CDU (German election winner Merz's party) stands firmly with Ukraine, supporting their right to self-defense and a just peace. For freedom. For peace. For Ukraine.

This image is a big deal because it diverts from Scholz's stance who kept repeating that Ukraine must not lose this war and acted accordingly. The CDU outright stating that Ukraine must win is a welcome surprise.

The most recent update on Germany's election results have the BSW party fall just short of the 5.0% mark, so a two-party coalition between the CDU and SPD is possible. The SPD will reorganize their leadership after the disappointing result for them, so there's a chance that the new top people in the SPD are going to go along with the mantra of "Ukraine must win."

While Trump is undoubtedly a scumbag, his presidency also means that the other major leader besides Scholz who stepped on the brakes to prevent Ukraine from winning is out of the game. Perhaps it's misguided to be optimistic right now after being let down so often by the collective West, but I prefer to have that attitude over giving up and giving into despair.

KYIV -- Canada will send $5 billion in aid to Ukraine using funds from seized Russian assets, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Monday at a peace and security summit in Kyiv. Trudeau and a dozen other world leaders are in the Ukrainian capital to mark the third anniversary of Russia's invasion, where support for Ukraine to end the war on its terms and with its territory intact remained strong.

"This is not a conflict Ukraine wanted, provoked or asked for in any way," Trudeau said at the summit table. "This is a war started for one reason and one reason only: Russia`s desire to erase Ukrainian history and expand their empire." Trudeau also pledged 25 additional light armoured vehicles for Ukraine and a grant to help with energy security as Russia attacks the country's power grid.

"We cannot return to an era where might makes right," Trudeau said. "We must do everything in our power to enable Ukraine to secure a just and lasting peace, a peace that cannot be achieved without Ukrainians at the table."

In addition to the 25 new LAV III vehicles, Trudeau is pledging two armoured combat-support vehicles for Ukrainian troops, who will be trained in Germany "shortly" to use the machines. He says Canada will provide four F-16 flight simulators in addition to systems for the fighter jet that were recently delivered to Ukraine.

The new $5 billion in funds is the first instalment of revenues from frozen Russian assets, after years of Ottawa promising to forfeit holdings associated with Russia's government and its oligarchs. Canada has been pushing Europeans to forfeit Russian funds held in frozen European accounts, or at least the interest accrued since the full-scale invasion.

Trudeau says Canada will continue training Ukrainian troops, so that Russia will not be allowed to end the world order that upheld sovereignty for many countries for decades. "Once a just peace is secured, Canada stands at the ready to work with our partners around the world to provide Ukraine the security it needs for the peace to last, allowing it to recover, rebuild, and prosper," he said.

"We can't wait. The moment to stop this war of aggression, the moment to defend democracy, the moment to stand for our shared values -- is now. So let us seize it."

Ukraine news: Justin Trudeau in Kyiv pledges army vehicles

Europe needs to step up and do the same, Russia has already written that shit off anyway, the only reason they aren't doing it seems to be stupid concerns over laws and "bad precedence" when we're talking about talking the assets of modern day Hitler and send the entire value to Ukraine, not just the interest accumulated on the value sitting in the banks.

BRUSSELS, Feb 23 (Reuters) - Estonia has launched a new push to get fellow EU members to agree to seize frozen Russian assets and use them to help Ukraine, dismissing a Russian idea on how the money could be used as part of a peace deal. The Baltic country has sent a discussion paper on the issue to European Union partners and will raise it at a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels on Monday, officials said.

Some 210 billion euros ($219.62 billion) in Russian assets are immobilised in the EU by sanctions as part of an international crackdown on Moscow for its 2022 invasion of Ukraine. Last year, the G7 group of nations – including the EU – agreed to use profits from frozen Russian assets to fund a $50 billion loan for Ukraine. But the assets themselves remain untouched.

"The decision to use the windfall profits was a step in the right direction. I see that the time is ripe now to take the next step," Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna told Reuters. Several EU countries, including Baltic states and Poland, have said they are ready to consider seizing the assets. But Germany, France, Belgium and the European Central Bank have been wary, warning of legal challenges and undermining the euro as a reserve currency.

The Estonian paper, seen by Reuters, tries to address its partners' concerns. It says asset seizure can be justified under international law, as a countermeasure to Moscow's war and because "Russia refuses to engage in reparations". It also says joint action by the EU and international partners could mitigate any risk to the euro as a reserve currency.

It’s nice to see some encouraging news on Ukraine in spite of the fact that President Musk and Vice President Krasnov are on Russia’s side.
