In the past months Emergent , maker of GameBryo engine ( ie: Oblivion and Civilization 4 were based on it ), announced the support of its engine for Wii.

Here a direct cam gamplay from last GDC of the simple Tech Demo called "The Forbidden Terror on Station Z", a Zombie On Rails Shooter In Space (ZORSIS):

Upcoming Wii games that will use GameBryo are Speed Racer and Sadness.

I'm not impressed at all, textures, lightning and models are not looking very good.

I disagree on the lightning and models.

The important thing though is this is the second announcement in a week of Wii specific middleware. It means that the days of PS2/Wii games are over and that developers will try to get most out of the Wii.

 Not quite that, but it definitely means there's ground being made in that direction.
