Dark skinned beardless female dwarves and dark skinned elves.. hmm, bit like having a Wakandan king being a pale skinned red head with a great shaggy red beard

The Man in the High Castle, Carnival Row, Upload are off the top of my head, other Amazon shows which are highly rated. Evil has no bearing on whether Amazon can create a good show. And yes, I agree, Amazon as a company does suck, Jeff Bezos is a twat, as is Zuckerberg and Elon but at least Tesla does cool stuff. While Jeff Bezos is a dick, the only reason a show like The Expanse even survived was because he was personally a fan. |
I would highly recommend Upload to anyone who hasn't seen it. It's excellent.
Wait, this show will have female leads and non-white characters? I hate it and will actively complain about it until the day I die. BTW I'm totally not racist or sexist, I just hate women and non-white people and everyone disagreeing with me is a woke social justice warrior and deserves to die.
Am I doing this right?

Woke List
Anyway, she does have a beard, Tolkien also only explored 3 of the 7 dwarf clans, the other 4 barely have anything written about them.
Stands to reason they'd be racial diversity more on half a planet vs a single country. But also, white people have lived in Wakanda, the most obvious one from the films being Bucky who was granted asylum by T'Challa but also in the comics we have "White Wolf" who was a white kid adopted by the Wakandan King T'Chaka, Bucky is called White Wolf in the MCU IIRC. But no, they will never be a white Wakandan King and for good reason. |
I see your outrage at my pseudo-racism, we all have read the books, if somehow the series can explain away these obvious changes to the books then fine, but I'm pretty sure in this TV series that Dark Skinned Dwarves and Elves will be in a tribe of pale skinned ones just for the fun of it with no lore to explain it. I've grown up reading LOTR, it does hurt the immersion I'll feel and that's a legitimate observation/feeling, other races in middle earth are described as dark skinned, so it's not like there wont be any possible dark skinned characters, IMO stay true to the story or it's immersiveness for me will be diminished.. if that is fine for you because of reasons then fine, it's not for me, so don't preach
Looks like they're not going to respect the source material so I don't expect anything good from this.
